Well we finally decided to replace the front windshield and the tailgate glass in our 64 Acadian Beaumont. We were reluctant to as they were original and even had an auto club sticker on the front windshield from 1967.

The windshield was so 'sandblasted' from road grit that if we drove home at sunset it was difficult to see. The rear window was not as pitted but had some deep scratches from use. Glad we finally did that, it was a bit of a challenge to find someone willing to do class in an old car: but the job is done and we are glad we did it!

We installed power disc brakes up front a year and a half ago and we had to replace the proportioning valve for the second time. We installed a 'Right Stuff' set up and they were quick to send a replacement valve when we called. Apparently they have had a bit of trouble with these units which are made for them by a supplier. Annoying for us but the company has been great to deal with, they even supplied a new brake line as one of them had been mangled a bit trying to tighten to stop the leak.

So, the old girl is back on the road, running like a champ and my wagon is doing great too!

Grey road, that is one BEAUTIFUL Beaumont. It is not, however, an Acadian. The Acadian was based on the Chevy II in the same way the Beaumont was based in the Canadian Chevelle. I can still remember going to Old Mill Pontiac Buick Cadillac and seeing the new Beaumont and Acadian models, never thinking my first car would be a 69 Acadian Coupe from Old Mill.

Sorry MikeT but you are incorrect. Acadians were built from 1962 thru 1971 in various models. The Acadian brand was Canadian built for the Canadian market but few of them were exported to Brazil.

Our Beaumont wagon was the first year that that name was attached to the A body cars. The basic drivetrain and body were Chevy Malibu but it has a Pontiac Tempest dash. Plus its exterior and exterior trim was unique to the Acadians: aka different from the Chevys and Pontiacs.

I have attached a picture of our tailgate: note the Acadian name on it.... and I have a document on the cars that was published in Old Autos about the Acadian. They won't upload due to size so I will try to find a conversion for them from hi res PDF's to something the forum will accept and upload later. If you PM me your email I will be happy to email the documents to you. I would love to hear more about your 69!

The old roadmaster has developed a fuel gauge "twitch" every time you hit a bump in the road the gauge erratically moves to full. The last time the car did this the fuel sender hangar unit burned up in the fuel tank!!!:49: So I have parked the car for now and when my son comes home in a couple of weeks we will drop the tank and repair this BEFORE a fire breaks out.

Got the wheels installed on the Country Squire this afternoon after work. They really improve the look over the factory wire wheel covers, that is for certain! Dirt and water, showing that I do indeed drive this every day!
