I agree! That doesn't look like a $5900 wagon to me either.

    It's a 1500 derby wagon with a 1000-1200 driveline that's it

Looks like A/C, luggage rack, deluxe color-keyed seatbelts and 402 are the only options it has... and AM radio?

Not sure. I am not an authority on cars, nor do I have a keen sense of value, but it may be a sign that these cars are taking another increase in value.

I guess if people start paying the prices asked, then they were worth it, lol.

Lord knows I paid a pretty penny for my '72 and still putting $ into it!! I have at least $5800 in my wagon and it could use another $2000+ in body work/paint/carpeting to get it showroom - as well as work to rear window motor and sound system.

$4000 - initial purchase in 2007 (car ran very poorly and wouldn't even pull out of its tracks)
$500 - engine work (2008 - new cam, timing chain, lifters, resurfaced heads, new gaskets, etc)
$300 - plugs, plug wires, points, coil, water pump, carb rebuild, rear shocks, distributor cap, rotor button, condenser, distributor, brake master cylinder, etc (between 2008-2013).
$700 - complete transmission rebuild (past few months)
    $300 - complete exhaust system

Now I have an oil leak coming from back of the engine that could be the rear seal - so that is going to cost me another small fortune. A shame too, because that should have been replaced while the tranny was out for a rebuild. Ugh. Also my hvac blower has stopped working and I think it needs a new motor. Going into shop this week or next to have these issues addressed.

I think any solid, straight wagon with a decent interior is worth $3,000 as a restoration project. Put another $5,000 in it for paint and mechanicals and you have a beautiful wagon for about 8g's......If you think that is out of line go to the local car dealer and see what kind of junk they offer you for 8,000. Plus you have something rare and unique. I think as new cars continue to price themselves out of the middle class's pocketbook, these wagons offer a reasonable alternative for transportation.

They certainly have increased in value since I started watching. Same thing happens here once cars start turning 40 years old. I think it has something to do with the gap between child hood and the memories associated with the cars they grew up with and then turning middle aged (mostly men!) and finding themselves in the position with the income to collect a few of these along the way. Kingswood, even you may find yourself worth a little more and become a little more collectable in only two years from now!

As far as your car goes, hang in there until you finish it off. I know you have not been able to enjoy it for what it is just yet but if you see it through then it will be worth it in the end, and evidence has already shown that they are only going to increase in value from here on.:yup:

Agreed BUT that's not a decent interior.

Yes this car does not have lot going for it for the asking price really. If it is not clean and original then it needs to be highly optioned if you going to ask a premium, unfortunately this car is neither.
