    Its a beauty.

One thing I find interesting with this car (as well as some other Custom Cruisers I have seen) is the lack of woodgrain trimming on the door panels. Normally the "luxury" cars had woodgrain on the door panels, but this car lacks any woodgrain on the doors. Even the Impala wagon had woodgrain on the doors, so it makes these cars interesting at the lack of it.

It does have a rather large piece of carpeting on the doors.

That is the most beautiful shade of blue I've ever seen. And maybe since they claim it's a Delta, that could be why it doesn't have woodgrain door panels.

Not perfect, but it certainly looks pretty good. Loaded with all the right equipment. Says 'all original', but does it look like the Di-Noc has been replaced at some time?

Also doesn't appear to have a reserve on the auction. Make your best bid and it may be yours....

Anyone near Maywood, NJ to check it out for whoever is interested?

I don't think this has anything to do with it. Those cars back in the day were called simply "Custom Cruiser" with no reference to Delta 88 or anything. The CCs were built on the 98 platform, so if there was an inclination to give it another name, it would more likely have been "98 Custom Cruiser."

I think he's calling it "Delta" and "Eighty-Eight" for one of several possible reasons, maybe combinations of more than one.

    1. He really doesn't know better and thinks it really is correct to call it an "Eighty-Eight" or "Delta 88 Custom Cruiser."

    2. He was forced to choose "Eighty-Eight" by the ebay category selection process when he went to list the car. Perhaps ebay doesn't have "Custom Cruiser" in its database, so he chose something else.

    3. This I think is most likely. He's just doing what a lot of ebay sellers do and putting extra terms in the description in hopes of catching people who search on terms like "Eighty-Eight" or "Delta."

I don't think the doors are wrong, either. My '73 CC doors are trimmed exactly the same way, with vinyl on the upper half and carpeting on the lower half. Now my car does not have woodgrain siding, but I don't think it was a requirement that a woodgrain car have woodgrain on the doors. Why would someone have gone through the trouble of taking the woodgrain off of the doors on this car and replacing it with vinyl, anyway? Everything else about the car seems exceedingly original. Why mess with that one aspect of it?

Gonna be curious what this one goes for. Sure is a pretty color and the wood is also very nice color. I saw a crease along one rear door and what looked like some rust under one skirt. Love it.

You're right Krash no reserve but it was just on e-bay before and made it to just over $8000 with a reserve that was not met. My guess is that if it doesn't go high enough he will end the auction so he doesn't have to sell it cheap.

I noticed the VIN began with "3". That got me wondering as to where it was built. I was able to See Fairfax and Kansas City on the photos of the build sheets. I thought all US built cars began with a "1"? Certainly a beautiful Clam. Is it 116,000 or 16,000 miles? I'm thinking 16k as it appears to have all original hoses, clamps and water pump, commonly replaced maintenance/wear items.

Only for vehicles built 1981 and after does that hold true. The "3" in this VIN signifies Oldsmobile Division of GM, just as "4" would signify Buick. "IF" this were a 1981 or later, the "3" would mean it were final assembled in Mexico.

    Yup - it wouldn't have a 17-digit VIN being a '77.

Dang, what a beautiful Olds wagon! Love it!

This one sure is loaded up with all the options, and is trimmed out wonderfully inside, but I have always thought it was so strange that GM kept the trim levels for each division's wagon limited to that of the mid-range model specifications.

Chevrolet wagon had Impala-level trim, Pontiac = Catalina trim, Oldsmobile = Delta 88 trim except for door/armrest trim, and Buick = LeSabre trim. There were a few decor upgrades, but for the most part nothing about any of these interiors approached the luxury decors possible in a Caprice, Bonneville, NinetyEight or Electra.

There is no doubt in my mind that if these wagons had been allowed to go up-market in trim, there would have been many buyers for them.

    David :)

Wow, yet again a stunning low mileage example of a clamshell. If this was a Chev I would most probably be a serious contender. I really want a 73 but I think I might have to begin to look at other Chevy Clamshells because there are so little and few to pick from. This Olds is actually quite a good looking car as 75 CC (non Chevy).
