Wow, grab it quick is right. Low miles, good solid paint, everything works. Just get in er and drive! I'm thinking that's a great price for such a survivor. Wish he had thrown in a couple of pictures of the interior, but I'll bet it's as pristine as the outside. I'm also loving the fact he won't sell it to just anybody; it has to be someone who appreciates and respects it for what it is. Hopefully, whoever buys it will come on and join the forum if he hasn't already.

Well.....you never know, Krash. I see a piece missing from the driver's door but, more importantly, here's an answer I got back from the seller after a week's wait. Some additional pix accompanied the answer that shows the clear coat peeling off all over. There were no interior pix. The answer appears below.......

Hello everybody. this is an e-mail for everybody who is interested in the Buick. This car was my grandmothers it's whole life and has been in Wash. the whole time. This is the most well documented vehicle I've ever seen and very well taken care of. However, as well as it's been taken care of, she did let some idiot (family friend) talk her into repainting it and this guy didn't have much of an idea of what he doing. Other than that everything else is in great condition. If you have more questions feel free to call me @ 360-961-2600

Sorry for the seemingly tardy reply, I haven't been on the computer in a week or so due to an injury. I'd rather speak to someone on the phone anyway.
Thank you and have a great day.

    Jason

In other words, it doesn't look as good in real life as in the pictures. Well - at least the guy is honest about it. And with REAL NICE ones going for upwards of $6k or more, $2,700 doesn't sound too bad.

Well...it would need a complete paint job and those don't go cheap anymore. Especially on a huge rig like this. And I have no idea what the interior is like??

Where does the name clamshell come into account on this car?

The rear gate opens like a clam.....a power button slides the bottom part of gate down into the floor and, simultaneously, the glass slides up under the headliner. Both are then out of sight. Cool thing to watch happen.

It's nickname given to this particular type of wagon. This was GM's big wagon, sold from '71 through '76 in Chevrolet, Buick, Oldsmobile and Pontiac versions. The name comes from the operation of the tailgate. The glass part rolls up into the roof area, and the tailgate drops down under the floor - in essense disappearing.

Here's a video link showing one on a Buick in operation....
