This is the original one west of Leavenworth about 20 minutes. The same folks bought the Studebaker Grill in Cashmere (Wenatchee mall) about a year and a bit ago and are doing gangbusters. They sell thousands of milkshakes every year. Was busy in there today.

Hey CAT, we've had many trailers over the years and find that these 24' Airstreams tow as well as any tandem of same length. And the early models, pre '66, are fairly light given what was available to tow them. It is one of the major reasons we have owned Airstreams is they are easy to tow, no issues with wind, long life, and if there is a downside it is the same as the wagon, you are never anonymous, you seldom manage to get away from a gas station or are able to relax in a campground without people wanting to talk about one or both, and to view the trailer.

This one we found at Annacortes. It lived its life in Fresno until the last year, then was in ID for six months and on its way back to Fresno when the family decided to stay put in Seattle area. So they needed to sell the trailer to fund a place there. We already had a '51 but wanted the Tradewind model, 2' longer, 4" wider, 5" taller. Makes for much more comfortable lengthy camping. This one is a '60. Since we bought it 4 years ago we have done a ton of work to tailor it to our likes and needs.

We were at a buddies today, he has 4 of them. Sort of like wagons, they attract more of the same. He tows the smaller one with his '33 Plymouth 5 window coupe hot rod. :thumbs2:

And it was HOT here again today but not as hot as previous days. Only got to 90 :slap:. I love the heat, my wife not so much. I'd rather be camping in hot weather than miserable weather. She seems to think there is this thing called moderation - I've read about that but never tried it :162:

We've only lived in central Illinois and NW Florida. I have also heard of this moderation thing but never actually felt it. At least in Illinois it goes from summer to Fall. Maybe that's moderation. Just before the first frost.

About old Airstreams. I guess we missed our chance buying a nice restored one at a Tin Can Tourist meet not far away several years ago. I wanted it to pull behind our 1948 Chevy panel truck. My wife decided $5500 was too much at the time and the panel was only partially finished. Much like it is right now! I try to convince her it would be done if I had that Airstream!
Picture the smooth back end of a customized panel truck compared to an Airstream.

By the way it's 90, feels like 95...... Right on topic.

First time I've seen this here in the boonies. We are under a heat warning from this morning, Thursday 21st until Saturday at 8PM.
Says we could have temps around high 90's to above 100 with high humidity and maybe rain. Been that way most of the summer already.
Heat index supposed to be like 108-112. Said stay inside in AC and check on relatives. So Dollie cocked one eye at me and I cocked one eye at her. We're sitting in the AC looking cockeyed at each other. :rofl2:
Yea I know, it's even hotter out west but most places there don't have the humidity, and I'm here not there.
It also said drink plenty of liquids. For once I gotta obey the weathermen.:pub::drink::beerchug::cheers2:
:xmas::eek:Sorry the heat's gettin to me!

I'll second the heat here lately. I work in the field almost all day everyday and lately it's been pretty hot. Although I must say, if you're out in it everyday the body definitely gets acclimated. I try to avoid any prolonged periods in AC during the day for that reason. But at night, I want my AC.

One benefit I have here is that being only a few miles from the coast, there's almost always an afternoon sea breeze. To me, the hottest time of the day is around 11 AM before the winds come up.

I think it's a lot worse up in the piney woods of north Florida and Georgia. No breeze, and wicked humidity.

Although its definitely hotter out west, the humidity down here can be brutal. If your not careful you can get bear caught!

Sounds steam down there in FL hope it's not coming this way...sometimes your leftovers come this way...cockeyed isn't a good look for me.
Our weather has been really very comfortable. Slighly below normal at night, great for sleeping, a little foggy in the morning but quickly burning off for an amazingly very nice late summer day, cloudy and very warm not hot and sticky just really nice weather.

    :p

Roadmaster----------> I think it's a lot worse up in the piney woods of north Florida and Georgia. No breeze, and wicked humidity.
Yep, 80 acre pine forest across the dirt road and 80 acre regular forest at the end of the road. Plus 7000+ woods in the nearby game preserve. We are about 30-35 miles in from the coast so that sea breeze is all chilled out by the time it gets thru the woods. Even the rabbits took off their fur coats. They almost look like Armadillos now.

Right now 92 with 100 heat index. As mentioned, if spending a lot of time outside a body gets used to the heat. I dont know how we did it. Up till a few years ago we were in the yard or at a beach from sun up till sun set. After a few health issues we started staying inside. Now outside feels like a sauna.
A quick stroll from the AC to the truck AC then to a store with AC is about all the outdoors we can take.

Couple months we'll be grippin about the cold!

Stand by in case of technical difficulties

As of 4PM eastern time it is 99 degrees with a heat index of 108+ here in the NW boonies of Floriduuu.;)
I am adding this in case I disappear into cyberville for awhile. It sounds like a tribe of three legged natives in the attic dropping bowling balls on a hardwood floor and the sky is getting dark.
Maybe I'll put the umbrella off the pool deck over the satellite dish.

Geez CAT, you get to have all the fun.

Nothing like a nice cooling rain to freshen things up for you.
