    Finally!

Yes- I thought I had my tailgate hinge problem solved before but it did not want to work- so I got an entire hinge and backplate assembly from Georgia and had it installed yesterday. The tailgate opens like a door, and can drop down like a tailgate. Whew! That was years in the fixing!:drink:

    ^ Good news! (y)

Cleaned the rear window gaskets that were taken out with the glass to be reused when the glass is reinstalled in the Spring (I hope).

They are still pliable and soft. A pleasant surprise from 1967.

Chefdough: I was looking over your info on this site. As you can imagine, I have an interest in 67 Country Sedans. Please post some more, bigger pics of it.

And you haul a trailer with it? Please post a combo! I think it would be very cool! :2_thumbs_up_-_anima

I have a 1961 Shasta astrodome that is in the process of getting restored.
When the wagon is ready, I will get a hitch put on. The camper will not be ready until mid winter. Also I will get a dual exhaust and disk brake conversion to the wagon sometime this winter. There are pics of the wagon in the garage.
When she is ready I will post bigger and better pics.
When tha camper is ready, I will surely post some pics of the two together.
    The anticipation is killing me.

    Thanks for the interest!:tiphat:

I had to replace the water pump on the Merc today. Drove the car Saturday to a car show, and found the water leak I thought I'd taken care of was not from a hose after all, but was coming from the weep hole on the water pump.

It is definitely ready for the road trip the new owner will give it next month!

Well I just set here and typed a 15 minute post on what I have done to my wagon today and some decisions I have made and hit some kind of button and it went back a page, then deleted all I had typed. :slap:

Needless to say I dont have time to type it all again right now... maybe later.

LOL. Well I was making my closing statement and I was going to put the ":slap:" icon, but somehow I but a "bb" in front of it and when I tried to delete the bb, it went back a page and deleted it all. I am going to type it all back again here shortly and make sure I copy/paste every so often. :disagree:

Well I am going to try this again and hoping I can remember what I typed before... ;)

Well we worked on the wagon some today and I think it may be time to call it quits. This NO POWER issue has went on for years (as most here know from the countless posts - although I haven't really mentioned it in a couple of years and the car has been setting untouched) and I have about had it up to my ears with it.

Yesterday we got a new distributor installed (thinking it was worn and may be a low power issue). Finally got around to starting it today and after about 3 minutes of running, started smelling gas and it was literally pouring out from under the car around the rear tire... that slightly leaking gas line (return line) had finally gave way.

I went on to get some new hose and clamps and came back home. We installed the hose and cured the leak. So, then hoping I would have tons of power, I go out the neighborhood road and make it a short trip. On the way back I stopped the car on the steep part of our driveway, which is what I call my testing spot. Well the car is just as powerless as before, even floored the cars RPMs would not go up and the car just bogged down. :(

The car has a new cam, lifters, distributor, distributor cap, points, plugs, rebuilt carburetor, etc, etc, etc. Timing set, points dwell set, etc. We feel that the exhaust is not the issue, because the car has a bad exhaust leak about 1/2 way back that is allowing air out, as well as TONS of exhaust air still coming from the tailpipe.

Me and my dad discussed it and he seems to think that the mechanic that installed the cam (about 6 years ago) may have installed it wrong or something. He is going to try to ask one of his friends that is pretty good on big blocks what he thinks or see if he can take a look at it. One of my uncles seems to think it is a carburetor issue... I wish I had a GOOD Quadra-jet to put on there just to test it. If it is the cam, I am not dealing with another engine tear-down. I wont. I just don't have the time or the know-how and really cant afford to get someone else to do it again unless I win the lottery or sell my new car, which I really do not want to do. I have a Mercedes setting in my driveway I am trying to save up to have repaired... the list goes on and on.

If it turns out that it is an improperly installed cam, I will probably end up trading the car off for another late 60s-mid 70s GM wagon or 73-75 Country Squire wagon or a 68-74 GM sedan (Caprice, Electra, DeVille, Fleetwood) that is in good running condition (that may need work in other areas) and try to get me another wagon later (hopefully a '73-'74 Caprice Estate). I know I could never get nowhere near what I paid for the car in cash... I paid $4000 cash for the car in 2007, then spent another $500 in repairs. I knew it was too much when I bought it, but I really wanted the car... I begged the old lady for 10 years to sell it to me... sadly she finally did at a premium. lol.

I guess we will try a couple of more things if I can find a carburetor that someone will let me borrow to put on the car... if that isn't it, then it seems like all that it could be was an improperly installed cam and the car will have to go bye-bye. :( My uncle (who is supposed to be a pretty good mechanic on cars) has kept saying he would come over and check it for me... still waiting on that (months later). You cant get any help anymore.

I will post updates as I know more... you may see it up for trade on Craigslist soon.
