But it made you feel so alive by cheating the stall and going ever so lightly on the accelerator :) Reminds me of Kramer on Seinfeld

What are the material costs (retail) to pull off a two-tone like this? Also, what is the life-expectancy? Finally, what all is involved with removal to be paint-ready?

    Very cool, btw!

Disassembled and taped off the metal portions of my dash, cleaned it up, and gave it a fresh coat of paint. So much better. Still need to do the column before I reinstall the brake booster, etc. as I work toward starting the car.

About $400 in material, $200 each color, 30 hours for install on color change. 3M says 5 years in the sun and rain. To remove, it just peels like a big sticker, better with heat, difficult in winter. No remnants of the material being there, ready for paint or reveal your original color that was under the wrap.

FINALLY, replaced the valve stem seals on the Bonneville this week.
Still can't drive it because I destroyed one of the rocker cover grommets when I was trying to remove it. :slap: I'll pick one up tomorrow.

I should have taken a picture to prove it, but I found a heater hose clamp and a Rochester choke lock-down clip and screw laying on the passenger head when I removed the rocker cover! :49::yikes:

It already had umbrella seals, but the O rings were non-existent. all that was left of the seals were little bits of crumbled, crusty trash.

With this all done, I'm hoping it won't look like a crop-duster when I start it!

Very cool! Like those colors on your Chevy! Here's a link to 3M site, I notice at least the white and black are available in Gloss, Satin and Matte finishes. :thumbs2:

Now that my car will be a floor-shift, I am working on converting the column to a floor shift column. Lots of work with the grinder, JB Weld, Glazing putty and soon, paint!

I had to pull the column anyhow to install the headers, so it was a good excuse to take care of painting the dash (finished on Tuesday) and paint the column which will hopefully be finished up today. It also helped me locate a loose repair to the harness, and a broken hot wire to the PRND21 indicator light. It had to go anyhow, but nice to have found it.

Heh, think that's bad? Try going up a windy, dark, two lane road doing 45 when your power steering belt snaps, causing you to lose power steering, the water pump, and the alternator so every mile you creep up the road with the hazards on the lights headlights get dimmer. I had to crawl my wagon home like that, good thing those ole' iron blocks don't mind some heat! There was a sudden loud squealing, and then, nothing, no power steering. I knew my alternator was disconnected 'cause the lights kicked down like I shut off the engine, and I also knew it was was going to overheat soon 'cause of the belt arrangement. As for my fuel gauge? It's VERY accurate, as long as I'm not on a hill... I ran out of gas like you did once, didn't believe it when it said E even though the fuel light was on, won't do that twice. :D

I finally got the new valve stem seals on the Bonneville.
No more clouds of blue smoke when I start it up!

I am very glad it's done.
