Finished cleaning up the brackets for the engine. It's a 429 and I found a serpentine set-up from a 1987 460. The bracket had a bunch of extra metal for an air pump which I trimmed back and cleaned up so you would never know it should be there.

I also ordered a spacer for under the air cleaner as this is sitting on the float adjusters on the carb.

Starting to get close to firing the engine up, but I don't want to rush it and miss something. Attached is a before (not my engine, but it is my pullies and brackets) and after photo.

The engine looks very clean and tidy. I don't recognize the air cleaner; is that off an earlier car? I had a '66 Mercury with a 390, but it's been so long ago I don't remember what the air cleaner looked like.

I picked up the air cleaner a while back. I believe it is off a '61 T-Bird, and the snorkels were added. I liked the look and thought it made for a nice era cleaner to top the engine. I just have to decide if I am going to stay with the gold, or go to blue, but that will wait until I have more of the body back together before I make the final call on that one.

That is a purdy engine for a Ford. Wonder if it runs with the distributor at the wrong end?:rofl2:

I like the gold color air cleaner
While at the U-Pull-It our son got a Chevy twin snorkle air cleaner for his 85 truck. It's the kind with tapered round tubes then the wide ends. It looks nice too.

I will admit they were easier to get to to work on the points, etc.

Thanks for the props. I'm leaning toward staying with the gold. As for distributors, I kinda like em right up front, but I'm a tried and true Ford blue-blood. It just looks like something is missing otherwise.

I'm pleased with how it looks right now, but it will be interesting to see how it presents once I put a car around it...

I was tested my gas gauge for accuracy on Saturday...I ran out of gas...Managed to roll into a gas station with the engine not running :whew:...Power brakes and steering do not work well when the engine is not running :yikes:.

It showed about a needle width above empty. That won't happen again.

    Gas gauge Russian roulette?? :)

Mine was registering three quarters full when it was filled up so I bought one of those 91-96 B-body fuel cage calibration deals and installed it and it's right-on now.
