There are still a lot of Camaros out there and few Monte Carlos like that one.

Thats what I told him. Plus I have always wanted a nice Monte Carlo, and for under $3,000 I couldn't pass this one up

    RE: Swanny's Monte Carlo.....

I was working at a Chevy dealer for a bit in the summer of '72 when these first arrived. I liked the first generation of M/C's, but these - not so much. I will have to say they were built solid though. Took a bit of strength to lift one of these M/C fenders - I think they were heavier than the big Chevy pieces. And at least 3 times as heavy as a Vega fender, that you could lift with your little finger - no exaggeration.

It's a curse :) It needs a little bit of detailing on the AC compressor but I'll wait until I attempt to get the AC charged and working.

I'd go with a 4150 650cfm Holley with an electric choke. About $400 from Summit. I've had a few of them on various cars and they run well.

If you are switching to a 4 bbl from a 2, you will need to change the intake as well. To improve performance and fuel economy, I would go with the Edelbrock Performer series. They are made for low end torque, which is what you need in a big, heavy wagon, especially when it is loaded. Also, Ford engines work best with a square bore carb, not a spread bore. The Edelbrock 1401 Carburetor body is made by Weber. I would talk to the Edelbrock tech support people about how you use the car, and they will recommend the correct metering rods and jets to use for your application. They are both VERY easy to change on that carb, as everything can be reached with not dismantling required. If you are after fuel economy and performance, don't forget to have a good dual exhaust installed. Probably 2 1/2 inch tubing for that engine, and make sure to have the X cross over installed. That exhaust system is good for about 5 mpg compared to the factory single. It also frees up about 20 horsepower.

I've heard not so nice things about the Holley carburetors in the last while. They shifted production to China, and the quality seems to have gone down. They are not what they used to be, from the information I have.
