Now that is a lot of work!
I've done a lot of vinyl work so I know what a headache it is going around those curves.
If you used good quality air-release 3M product then you could have had Earl Scheib shoot a nice paint job for a bit cheaper.

The final look is GREAT. Glad you saved the patina.

That is cool! Nice work! How much does that cost? As an example, how much to do just the roof?

Material cost was $450, the weekend fun was priceless, It is 3M scotchprint, and yes earl would be cheaper, but I can remove without a mess and I didn't have earl sand down my mouldings and windows. I'm just a vinyl shop owner, with a weekend with nothing to do but work on the wagon

A wagon roof, would cost $750-$1000 in this area for parts and labor, half or full day install. This stuff isn't cheap, it's convenient , cause YOU can remove at anytime and have your original color back.

First off that's a nice straight 56 wagon. Everything looks good except the rusted areas.
Secondly I can't believe how great it looks with the wrap. How about up close?
Thirdly, what's gonna happen to the rust now that it's covered?
Fourthly, ya never did say why you have 1933 Chevy grille shell just hangin on the wall of your garage.
And how do you keep it looking so clean? Maybe I can send my 24 year old and some of his slob friends over to help you some weekend. :rofl2:

I would think that wrap material would be great for wood grain or just a contrasting cove color. Like on a wagon, older Corvette, or 57 Chevy.

If I were doing my wagon like that my wife would have to come out with a razorblade cutter to cut me free!

PS Patina is for old furniture.

That is awesome. Wonder if they could make a wrap with woodgrain. That would be sweet

Your vinyl wrap job looks amazing, smokinbill. I was wondering how you trim the vinyl. I'm guessing you're using something like an Xacto knife?

Does that scratch the underlying paint? That probably wouldn't be a big deal in dry California, but I'd be concerned about giving rust a place to start, for those of us living in a damper climate.

My understanding is that the way vinyl roofs were installed at the factory, they run a knife under the lower edge to trim off the excess vinyl. That is why you often see a line of corrosion "drips" just below that lower edge of vinyl tops.

    !967 Ford Country Sedan

I replaced the alternator, battery, plugs. Radiator, heater core, intake manifold are getting done today (hopefully)
Having the front converted to disk soon.(Anyone out there have suggestions for brakes) Also, trying to replace carb with a 4bbl to improve performance, mileage. I am looking for a 4100 shoebox carb. The ones out there are about 600-700 dollars.
When I complete my project, than I will post some pics.
ANY SUGGESTIONS, THOUGHTS ARE ENCOURAGED! Thanks!!-- Mark :whew:
