I think the racks were optional, but were a normally ordered option...

Here is another without a rack... this one also has cloth interior...

The car does have a roof rack and they were standard equipment on all the RMW's.
The owner just took off the movable crossbars/rails that fit into the tracks on the roof. The '94-'96 RMW's have two black crossbars that sit way up from the side rails and roof. The earlier versions have an anodized aluminum with chrome steel ends crossbar that sits flush with the roof behind the window and are normally stored in that position.
The roof steps down behind that roof section, that's why those plastic side rails on the side of the roof with the track in them are used. A lot of people use the earlier crossbar or just take them off because the cars look better without them. You see people looking for them in parts wanted classifieds sections on the forums because the previous owners take them off and loose them somehow? I think they may all end up in another dimension along with the cargo covers that people remove to make room to carry large items in the back. The things all disappear the same way socks do in a clothes dryer.:D

Changed the oil, oil filter and air filter on the wifey's HHR today. The Safari is next. I had to special order a Delco oil filter and air filter for it!

I drove my wagon to Napa to get a muffler hanger for my daughter's Sunfire. They gave me a 15% discount for being a AAA member, saved three dollars.:) I then stopped at McRonalds on the way home and with my savings I bought three McDoubles for my three dogs.:)
Now they'll be bloated and sleep all day, same thing happens to me if I eat there.:biglaugh:

I bet more dogs eat those thing everyday than people do.:D
It would be cheaper to feed them McDoubles daily than good dog food, the stuff is like gold now. They still get the good stuff no matter what. I eat macaroni and cheese and hot dogs for dinner a lot now.:(

I put the McDbls in the fridge and only give them a small chunk divided between the three of them once a day to trick my old girl into taking her antibiotic and chemo pills, only thing that works. She hates those pills with a passion and a Mcdouble will kill the taste of anything.:D

I have gotten really busy (read, using my garage for paying projects.) and had to move her to indoor storage. I broke down and bought a car cover to keep the dust off. Now she comes out as clean as she was when she went in.

Granted, I wasn't able to find an exact fit because my wagon is an oddball. The people at AutoZone were really helpful. They ordered in a few different ones and helped me test fit them in their parking lot. After a few tries we found one that is okay.

I think I will get her out this weekend and drive her to a club meet.

Swapped the stock intake and 2bbl carb for an Edelbrock Performer RPM intake and Edelbrock 600 cfm carb. Didn't use the carb space - without it the overall height of the new intake/carb combo was the same as with the stock manifold and 2bbl carb. Big difference in drivability, acceleration and overall responsiveness. I should have weighed the two setups - I bet the stock intake/carb is 15 to 20 lbs heavier than the Edelbrock setup.

Putting all the AC parts back on the wagon. I couldn't stand that it was a factory AC car and it wasn't operational - sort of like a gorgeous blonde with missing teeth. The previous owner took them off when the engine was rebuilt and hot rodded. Had to find a used condenser and a couple of hoses as the ones that came with parts for the car were not reuseable. Put stock valve covers on after clean up and painting so brackets would clear, got a header bracket for rear lower mount, and cleaned up and painted all the brackets. Luckily, I found some hoses and a used condenser about an hour away. Good ol Craigslist. Ordered a new dryer from NAPA and it was supposed to be here this morning from Jersey. It wasn't. Ordered a new A6 compressor from Advance and it did come today - damaged in the same way two others were last year that I ordered for my 71 Blazer and 70 K10. Idiots pack a 40 lb. chunk in a small box in a big box with a few air pillows. It arrives via UPS with inner and outer boxes all bashed and of course, the air gap in the clutch is ruined and the pulley won't free wheel. I complained last year to customer service - I see it did a lot of good. Now I'll wait until next Wednesday to exchange it at a store once they get one in. I got it $50 cheaper online than at the store. Guess I'll just ship it directly to the store if there is another instance. Oh well, when I get it done next week I'll post some pics.

Although I did not touch the Beateor, it was for the wagon. Last nite I started shredding parts off of the 460 truck at my buds house as it will be going for scrap on Monday. Gona have another :coffee: or 2 and get back to it

The Old 96 roady just recived it's 5th water pump 3 rd distributer and 6th starter about a week ago. I also repaired a signal wire (from the crankshaft sensor curcuit) that somhow melted to the block shorted and brought up a code. Today sometime My Son and I will be installing a desent (not high end but nice) stereo so he has some tunes.

I went to the boneyard this morning and picked over a black '92 Roadie that they recently got in. There wasn't a lot good or left on the car worth taking except for the right side rear door sailaway trim and the rare black plastic spare tire cover retainer screw deal. My best find was a hard to find 1992 optional radio/CD player I happened to notice in the Olds next to the RMW. I wasn't really looking for one but a light bulb lit up off over my head when I saw it.:) I don't know if it works or not but if it doesn't work they'll take it back and give me a cash credit. I never have any problem using credits up and it gives me an excuse to go back and find more good junk.:D
I also found the right and left sailaway panels for a whale wagon stashed in a Chebby Lumina. People are always taking off parts and stashing them in other other cars. I also found a couple of brand new Craftsman screwdrivers/lifetime guaranteed chisels somebody forgot.:) The yard sells the tools if they find them, have them in bins inside, they'll loan them to you if you need them but don't advertise the fact.

Wish I had pictures of the procedure... but was too busy trying to get it done and locked back up at the curb before dark.

But... I changed out the door glass, door felts and runs on the drivers door yesterday.

The glass in that door had a couple major cracks in it and had begun de-laminating around the edges when I purchased the car two years ago. The felts were totally gone, rotted out years ago, and the glass panel rattled with each bump and when the door was closed. I used folded bits of paper jammed into the slot to keep my sanity for a long time. But the day I slammed the door too hard and totally shattered the panel... is when I set about collecting the bits to do both front doors.

Process took about 10 hours to do (just one door) because some things just required a lot of experimentation to figure out retrofitting the new parts in the places of the old. But... the new glass rolls up/down smoothly and doesn't rattle when the door is closed! :bouncy:

Still have to put in the down stop and re-attach the door panel tomorrow.
I'll do a full step by step with photos very soon when I do the passenger door, now that I know what to do. Should be able to shorten the time in half!
    :rofl2:

As I was looking over my wagon today I noticed something was not right on the front passenger side door. It took me 4 weeks to realize there was a big crease in the woodgrain trim. It has a flat spot on the top side about 9 inches long, at the front of the door. As I looked it over I realized it had to have been made that way pon purpose as there are no scratches, creases, pings, dings, or scuffs. After further inspection I finally realized the trim was installed backwards and upside down! The flat edge is where the door handle indentation is at. :banghead3: Wonder how this happened. My car is all original and has never been in an accident. Wonder if it came from the factory this way. I will get pictures later today

Thanks Swan, I will keep those in mind. I have been looking around on the net. I really got to thinking and don't want to spend too much on something I really don't need since I need to focus on getting it running first. lol.
