Cleaning out my mother's attic today, I found these family photos.

My older brother on horseback being led by my mother. My parent's blue 1955 Ford Country Sedan wagon is at the left. Picture is from about the late 1950's.

My older brother and I in our front yard in Bethesda, Maryland about 1962 or 63 with my Dad's green 1960 Ford Country Sedan in the driveway. Mom and Dad always referred to it as "The Green Monster".

My Mother and I with our yellow 1966 Ford Econoline camper on a cross country trip in 1966 or 67.

My Dad's blue 1971 429 Ford Country Squire some time in the early 1970's in Bethesda, Maryland.

For me, even facing the other way, that cop standing in the middle of the road just screamed "Mountie"

Well, They can but it's a financial venture. If there ever is demand for new Wagons again they'll show up, With all sorts of options including TVs which I don't expect to buy but who knows.

Come to think of it I imagine anyone here (if so inclined) could custom-order a wagon from any of them.

I suppose in part it is due to the government meddling that caused them to disappear in the first place. In order to force us into smaller cars they arbitrarily increased fuel mileage requirements for cars. The problem is that those pesky subjects figured out a way to get what they wanted anyway (or at least as close to it as possible) by buying truck based wagons that got even worse mileage than the station wagons that they were forced out of.

Of course there is less need of a family vehicle now that the American family has been decimated by various cultural influences (not entirely free from government meddling there either). A quick look at birth rates and percentages of intact families makes this clear.

In short if an unencumbered market demanded the product we would have it.
