I have to admit, I'm slightly confused by the last picture. It looks like a parking lot, but it also looks like the road is part of the parking lot...
No stripes or lines anywhere. What da hail is going on here!?

It appears the area had been freshly paved, and not likely finished. I had to chuckle about the phone number on the building; it's only five digits, and no phonetic exchange!

Which even in small town America had to be kinda unique. By 1960 you would have thought most phone numbers would have been assigned exchanges, unless that’s an old paint job, without any updates.

I like that there is still some order in the way people parked their cars. The nitwits I live among would turn a similar situation into total chaos, with fistfights and maybe even shootings for the news at 11.

Sadly life itself had a lot more order in 1960. This picture is a true microcosm of how Americans comported themselves in a gentler time. Now people bust into lines at the gas station and stores, and people get into shouting matches over parking spots. We are hurriedly slinking into a free for all third world country day by day. Whew. Got that out. Lol

Quite interesting. Newest vehicles I'm seeing are 1960 models, all GM. I DO see a couple of little old Hillman (?) sedans, which leads me to believe that this could be in Canada somewhere, maybe around Toronto? I'd REALLY like to see a current-day shot of this same area........
