Never went to Lions Drag Strip when it was there....my loss. I've heard it was a great venue....

To the left of the photo it appears that the VW bus hit a Vespa scooter, while in the lower center of the photo, it looks like the 71 Caddy has just locked up its brakes and is about to hit the Toronado in front of it.
My favorit car in the photo is the 69 AMX with the stripes over the roof. Most interesting though is the 70 Road Runner with the back end jacked up high.

 

Well that would explain what looks like National Guard troops on both sides of the bridge.

Looks to me the Caddy already hit the Toronado and crumpled it's nose.
The fine print says an arrest was made. Notice the cop is holding a man near the VW.
