I just watched videos on Facebook of the Nevada Northern Railway (you know, the guys with the awesome mid-Fifties Pontiac inspection wagon) take delivery of a 1945-vintage Baldwin straight-8 prime mover for their 1942-vintage Baldwin VO1000 switcher engine (that they bought off ePay, no less!), and use their 200-ton capacity railroad wrecker crane to lift the 17-ton prime mover off the delivery truck's trailer and place it on a flat car to move it to the locomotive shop. Really interesting to watch.
It's a motorcycle-powered track inspection cart. But what I can't tell, is if the M/C is mounted on an older 'Gandy Dancer.' That would make for a rockin' pony ride!
