That's a good question Marshall. I was wondering the same thing myself. I was wondering if it was just an evolution of the same company. Ie: AMOCO became American, or vise versa.
I knew that Standard Oil had something to do with it. Here's the evolution: "Amoco is a brand of fuel stations operating in the United States and owned by British conglomerate BP since 1998. The Amoco Corporation was an American chemical and oil company, founded by Standard Oil Company in 1889 around a refinery in Whiting, Indiana, and was officially the Standard Oil Company of Indiana until 1985."
Good question. I can't find anything that exactly matches that tail light assembly. I'd say it's definitely from the '53 - '56 period. I was thinking Packard, but couldn't find anything that matched there. I dunno.......
"obviously" not. But now that I've looked at reference photos I think you are correct. What had me scratching my head was what looked like the placement. From the angle It appears it's on the car in the foreground, like it's mounted at the base of the rear window. But now that I have the perspective correct, I think it's an optical illusion and it's the only piece visible of a car beyond it. Which is most likely a 55 Chrysler.
