Sad they have people in this world that steal people's pride and joy. No matter what precautions we take, it can still happen. Locked or unlocked, garaged or not...no honor among thieves. All we can do is take our chances with the insurance we chose for them because we never know how good our insurance is until we have to make a claim!

Hope the truck gets recovered soon and my sympathies truley go out to the owner.

"AD" is short for Advanced Design, the name that GM gave to their 1947-1954 trucks.

what do you think of demobilizers as a deterant .The original owner installed one in my wagon. When you open my door the 4way flasher starts flashing and you cant start the car withot pushing the key fob.I have never really looked at what it entails to disarm it but it gets me a discount from my insurance.I think 75 bucks a year.

My wagons anti-theft device is its suspension, with two hidden switches under the dash, the car is virtually unmovable and untowable when laid out. With the hydro's all the way down the cars subframe is planted firmly on the ground. The front won't rise without the engine started and finding the switches next to impossible. Oh and currently has no steering wheel or drivers seat, ha! take that would be car napper! It is also kept in a locked garage 75 yards from the street.

My opinion here is like everyone elses however, a person who would take something you have put your blood, sweat and passion into is less than human in my opinion. Classic cars are built and owned with love and devotion, someone who would take that from you for personal gain has no morals. That piece of machinery is more than just a collection of parts, it becomes part of you, and something held near and dear to your heart. I hope this classic is recovered.

Regarding classic insurance, I have a policy with Allstate and for about 250.00 a year my car is covered up to $15,000.00 (a guy came out and appraised my car) not too bad or expensive, when she is parked it only costs me $10.00 bucks a month and covers fire or garage damage. In the end it gives me some peace of mind having it insured, but once again if something happened to my car what it would do to my heart would be a lot harder to fix.

I appreciate the break Cat, but it's always in the back of my mind that you and Fox and the rest of the peanut gallery are out there. Progress this summer has been slow but I will keep on keeping on...

Well it's real nice to know you have something on your mind. My jobs have slowed down to a STOP so I can't really say much about others. However you are young and need to get back on that interior before you are old and decrepid.......like silverfox ! I won't pick on some of the others because they are doing home reno work.
    As for me:drink:
