You don't wash California dusters, it says it right in the directions on the bag.
I've had a couple of them for at least 15 years, they look a little dirty but it doesn't effect how they work.
If you wash them they lose all the wax on the fibers and if it doesn't pick up the dust on the fibers you can do more damage than good with it.

This is from their site if you think I'm full of it.

    Q. HOW DO I CLEAN MY DUSTER?

    A. BECAUSE OF A SPECIAL PERMANENTLY BAKED IN PARAFFIN TREATMENT, THE ORIGINAL CALIFORNIA DUSTERS ARE MADE TO PROVIDE YEARS OF EFFECTIVE SERVICE WITHOUT THE NEED FOR CLEANING. SIMPLY SHAKE THEM OUT BEFORE AND AFTER EACH USE. THE "DIRTIER" THEY GET THE BETTER THEY WORK.

Okay well I have washed mine many times seems to work just fine, usually only once or twice a year...but hey I never really read the instructions so...no I don't think you're full of it...maybe I'm doing it wrong.

How does the duster avoid trapping abrasive particles?

Dear Dewey, BlueVista, and Station Wagon lovers,

As I said, I did try the California Duster, but sure wasn't too happy with how it performed.

The more I think about it, the more nervous it makes me. If the bristles have a waxy coating, that could easily trap abrasive particles. If you then brush these particles this over your paint . . . . . :smash:

Does California Car Cover say anything that should reassure me?

    Cheers, Edouard
