I hate to mention it 1tireman, but so many people tell us we live in the wrong places. Mother Nature doesn't really care where we live. She will find us anyplace and cause a lot of trouble. This storm does not look good for the upper east coast or even the midwest. Hope they make it okay.
Only days ago Canada was falling into the ocean. California may disappear tomorrow. Who knows where the safest place to live is? Mountains fall. Deserts get windy. We just hang on and hope.
Back in central Illinois where we lived they called it Tornado alley and the Illinois river seemed to change it's course every few years. So far, NW Florida has been a decent place to live. We can leave our lawn ornaments out and the windows open most of the year.
Even pink one legged birdies and blue balls if we wanted. Mostly I have old license plates and a used snow shovel for my decorations.

    assorted plastic flowers, etc.-no
    concrete deer-no
bright blue globe-yes, well kinda. It broke sometime ago, momreplaced it with a blue rubber ball, from a distance you can't tell the difference. Also Mom's

My mom lives in the house with us, she has ALOT of garden ornaments. She used her new lawn tractor and little trailer to go around and pick them all up. Then hubby and I helped her put them in the shed. Bird baths, bird houses, statues that kind of thing.

My gosh, we are so fortunate to be out of the way of that disaster.

Those of you who are in the line of activity, as Fox says, please keep us updated as you can.

Oh, and Fannie, yard art is not yard art until there are at least two pink flamingos in stock.

fannie I picture blue painted tires along your drive way and around your flower beds?

I'm at work right now, sitting in the car. The storm was supposed to hit Toronto last evening. Guess it is a bit late. Very little rain, yet, but there is a decent wind. Nothing too bad so far. Watching and waiting.

I have been very busy the last few days and am trying to get caught up. Just watched the WGN morning news report and... damn! I'm sorry to hear and see all that has been going on with this storm. Zoe and I are praying for all of our wagon family and all of those affected
to make it I through safely.

Spoke to my friend Ben in Chatham NJ and there is a power pole down in his parents yard, and a lot of trees down, shingles off. My other friend Carrie in Clinton NJ said there is a giant weathervane in her front yard. She's really thankful it didn't hit the house.

My buddy Erik in Hershey PA has no damage. Said just a lot of wind last night, thankfully.

Hope everyone is ok up there!

    -Mike

I've been on line but following the news on Yahoo. This thing may no longer be a hurricane but it's big and dangerous. So much damage it's amazing. I'm sure many people are not able to go on line or even have time to think about it. Be careful wherever you are.

Weather is a funny thing. It's like you said, Cat, it doesn't matter where you are Mother Nature will find you.

I will be on sparingly today as I will be outside most of the day. I am frosting a door window for a friend to make a few extra bux. It's cold and rather wind here in the windy city and I love it. I have been waiting for colder weather for so long. I live only about a half an hours walk from the lake at my slow pace and my friend lives south of me but still not that far from the lake.

Be safe every one. This will pass soon enough.

Hey Everyone-I live on Long Island-east of NY City.
    I'm lucky-I didn't loose electric.
I took a ride this morning and most of what I passed didn't have power.Where I work we have no electric so I have no idea when we open again.
Trees down-some leaning on houses on top of cars in the driveway.
The problem I noticed is the ground is so wet that there are alot of power poles leaning due to really wet ground.I think we are pretty lucky as the winds died down.
On the north and south shores there was alot of flooding-some people were evacuated through second story windows. Most of the shoreline areas are still closed and probally will be for awhile. In some areas-there were house fires but the fire departments had to leave due to weather and the water levels going up-way to high up for safety concerns.
I was watching the news this morning and New Jersey got hit many times worse then we did and from watching the news no one expected this to be as bad as it was.I have been living here all my life and this is the worst I have ever seen.
This is going to be a slow rebuilding process for everyone.
