That's good to hear. Hey, if I sounded like I was busting your chops, I was. So I apologize for doing so. It's not my car, and perhaps because of that, I should just stay on the bench. Anyway, I hope the exhaust note's sweet.
Well I guess then don't be surprised when I return the favor. So do I. I'm heading off to get it here shortly, so I'll find out soon enough.
The exhaust is done. It sounds good. I didn't get to see it up on the lift, but from the looks of what I can see he did a nice job.
Got the hubcaps all shined up and the new center medallions installed. This is the best looking one of the bunch. They all need to have the black repainted.
Ahhhh, the black always looks like it needs repainting. They look quite sharp, and unless someone wants to get on their hands and knees to inspect, they'll look grand!
Thanks Andrew. The black on the cap second from the left is really faded. But either way I think you're right. They will look pretty dang good once they're installed.
Went and picked the car up from the upholstery shop this afternoon. Corner pieces, sun visors and rear view mirror installed. Got the side curtains, wheelwell covers and convertible top curtain installed in the trunk. Also had the seatbelts installed, but I didn't take any photos of those. Now all we need to do is get a correct radio for the dash and the interior should be pretty much complete.
I also installed the hubcaps once I got the car back. They've been sitting in my office since they were finished. I think they look pretty dang sharp.
The red powdercoating for the wheels was the right decision, when using wheel covers. Red white and black were the traditional German flag colors, even before the NS government adopted them. Silver wheels would have optically interfered with the wheel covers' interpretation
I think so too. It's quite the amazing how much a subtle thing like that can enhance the appearance of an automobile.
