PPS Yes he was. Especially after demanding air in his tires and a battery check after he bought gas somewhere else.

 

Boy went from a Checker to a Lincoln. His business must have really been good. Unless the Lincoln was the wife’s car and he drove the dependable Checker.

 

Or his business only didn't look good in the accounting books. Back then, wives were also usefull for some degree of inter-familial money laundering. No wonder, he's driving the Checker daily past parked IRS agents, while she takes the Lincoln shopping

 

It’s always been a symbol of wealth to upgrade to a car that’s too big for your garage. Also to swap out that rusty slide for an In ground pool.
