That ‘58 looks like a “Spring addition” Ford.

Styling wise I always thought that the 59 and 58 were really similar, but seeing them in succession it becomes pretty clear just how different they really are.

Can you imagine folks dressing up like this now-a-days for a college football game?

I can’t imagine them dressing up like that for church. We truly live in a warm up suite and basketball shorts world.

It's true. Sad, but true. I suppose that's one of the reasons why I like looking through these old photos. It's nice to see how "nice" things used to look when people actually cared about the appearance of their architecture, their neighborhoods and their personal appearance.

Me too. That’s why I love looking at the old YouTubes and movies to see street scenes where people actually look nice, and the men and women look and comport themselves like decent human beings.

They succumbed more to peer pressure. Some of them were secret Cocktail Zombies or had other skeletons in their closet

I agree with everything your saying but just to play devils advocate what you don’t see in those pictures is little kids suffering from polio, the beginning of the war in Vietnam or all the people of color who weren’t allowed in the picture. Or any of the secret cocktail zombies ivy mentioned. Just saying. More things change the more they stay the same. I also enjoy wearing jeans and a tshirt everywhere (including the occasional church visit):162:

Grizz, I don't want to turn this thread into a soapbox, as I appreciate the general lack of political discussion. However, to your point as the Devil's advocate:
Yes, we tend to see the past through rose tinted glasses. It's easy to dismiss, forget or even be completely ignorant of things that made the past less than the perfect life we tend to romanticize. However, there are still things to be admired and appreciated about the past. And as this thread, this forum really, has shown there are folks alive today that appreciate the aesthetics of the past, particularly North America's past.
I for one love to see a sharply dressed fellow with a lovely looking lady getting out of a 47 Oldsmobile fastback in front of the Bass Museum* in Miami Beach for New Years Eve gala. Their world, like ours had it's share of issues, it was far from perfect. That doesn't mean we can't appreciate the good and beautiful things though.
Tee shirts and jeans are fine. I wear them all the time. Unfortunately it seems many among us believe sweatpants and slippers suffice.
Clearly we have made monumental strides forward as a society. But it is my opinion that we've also taken some steps backwards.

Because so many people have started dressing down, stores that carry decent clothes have started diminishing, leaving those who wish to dress up dressing down. It's almost gotten to the point where one ends up bringing the sales brochure from a '67 Olds to the tailor, in order to have evening attire copied. That is, if you can even find a tailor anymore. The trade seems to have died out like collision shop tradesmen who used lead instead of Bondo

Next time around, she should try dressing up like a zombie nurse.
