This might do the trick! This site has the original/viewable brochures covering those years: http://www.lov2xlr8.no/index.html Ford and Mercury pages are in the Brochures section (pictorial menu on the left): http://www.lov2xlr8.no/broch1.html Now don't get distracted, you can always come back.
You probably have to touch up the other faded ones, but Ford/Mercury used the same finish colours on the wood trim parts.
Well, what the heck, snoot...that area is so small you could SWITCH the dinoc if you had to! I mean...even if you couldn't find a perfect match...the area is so small no one would ever notice. If worse came to worst...you could painstakingly take the woodgrain off the one you have.
It should be the same woodgrain, but im not 100% sure. Even if it is the same it probably will not be an exact match because yours may have faded a little bit, but like silverfox said, no one would ever notice. You can't beat the price for a NOS piece, and since it did not sell you could probably offer him a couple bucks less.
Exactly my sentiments, pari. At least you would have a new piece in hand for very little money. It appears she has tons of other parts, too, snoot. She may have anything you need.
I wonder if it would it would take the same amount of time and patience to just make the trim instead of trying to find them...lol I mean it's just made out of thin tin right?
Make them?? This person has tons of new NOS parts for cheap money. Why would you even consider making them??
Snoot, dude....who cares if the wood is'nt a pefect match! Where are you ever going to find a brand new piece ever again? BUY IT!!:2_thumbs_up_-_anima We're spending your $$ wisely here make it....for starters you would need the piece in order to measure, etc, etc. It's pressed, punched, rolled, formed, I'm a tin basher and even with all the tools I have access to I'd never be able to make it. How ever though I have in the past used small trim pieces to cast a mold to duplicate a piece. Even then it needs to be painted and painted chrome....colour is still off.
Tedy's right. One guy here made his own by casting plastic pieces, once he got the corners worked out: http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1951&page=7
