Hello everyone! I just found a 1969 AMC ambassador SST 390 with 55k original miles in a barn, in excellent condition. I am going to drive the crap out of it! It has been sitting since 94, so today will be about getting her road worthy. I will have pics this evening. Its black on black with tint, VERY evil and cool looking! The best part? I am getting her for $650 bucks. Estate sale. HAH! (floats around) I am selling my other project car so I can keep this one... it is so cool, and my dog is gonna love it! See you around!

    Ann

Better to have an old US made car anyways. Cheap to reg , cheap to insure and safer then the tupperware cars they sell new today. Actually if you look on craigslist or ebay the whole AMC lineup is fetching more cash then youd think. Keep the car. Just hope that some plastic Honda dosent plow into it. Good luck finding body parts for it. The car falls into the " If you can find it " parts catagory. Been there done that with the Dodge

Congratulations and best of luck with it. Sounds like you got an outrageous deal. You can't go wrong for only $650. Welcome.

:Welcome: Ann; You'll like it here!!
This SW with the 390 cid,, is very RARE in production :1st:, the 390 was ususally ordered with the Javelins & AMXs,, I'll find the production #s on that car with the optional V8.
My guess will less that 100(y)
It will require premium gas or higher than 87 octane... dont panic if it rattles on cheap gas;)

Thanks for the welcome! Yes, I would enjoy seeing numbers on this car I have been beating the net to death but I have found very little! I had a feeling this car was special as soon as I saw it! Less than 3 hours before I pay for it and shes mine! Will be changing oil, tires, adding any other fluids, and seeing if the brakes work if the master cylinder is stuck ill take it apart and try to free it up rather than buy a new one the closest MC I found is a bit of a drive and expensive,... I could order one but it wont be here by today.... Imma try to drive it the 17 miles to my house (I cant believe it was so close) if the gas tank isnt nasty then I think she will make it they swear it runs still!

This is just not right. I paid more than that for my Eagle & it doesn't look anywhere near as nice. Plus I got a 258 6cyl. & you got a 390.

There are Mustang guys that blow thousands just to get a black interior for their black Mustangs. I mention it, because I once bought a little black dress for my wife at Sax Fifth. I could have bought a new car for that slinky little piece of loin cloth! :rofl2::rofl2: But it was worth it!
