Very cool. I'm doing a 351 for my Cougar and going with carbs. This isn't mine, but this is the set up (save a different air cleaner) that I will be running.

    Good luck with the project!

^^That looks great! Is that 302 intake with spacers? That is what it looks like. I considered it briefly but the cost would have been about the same.

^^WUTEVA. Got another piece in the mail today. My overtime money. I don't like wiring and bought this to help me out so I wouldn't have to mess with original harness.

It is a 302 with spacers. Carl's Ford sells them, and yea, they aren't nearly as affordable as I would like, but I already had a set of end carbs, and will convert another 2v for the center, and also had the air cleaner assembly as well since I was going to run a 428 3x2 in there. That helps keep the price down for me. Still a tough choice.

Your EFI will be an awesome upgrade. It was a tough choice not going that route.

When I decided to pull the plug on the 428, I was really bummed out about losing the tri-power. I wanted it as much for the looks as the performance. So I had to cave when I found this.

What is really cool is the air cleaner that will top it.

    See the pic below.

Good luck with the conversion and keep up the good work!

Nice work. My Fairmont Squire's gone through lots of of upgrades. This year, after I get her back on the road, I'll be doing a lot of Mustang suspension upgrades, but I'm going for a 4-banger Turbo SVO engine with a 4 speed sick, unless I can get a 5 speed stick.

Wiring can be a PITA. I'd suggest you get the EVTM for yours and the donor car with the 351 engine. Sure makes life easier.

EVTM = Electrical, Vacuum, Troubleshooting Manual - Ebay is usually a good bet.

Way ahead of you buddy! I bought the 1985 ltd evtm a while ago. Even looking at that my head hurts. That's why I bought the ford racing engine wiring harness! It is basically a simplification of the mustang harness. And it comes with directions and it's own relay/fuse box!

It's in, but too long. The diff isn't gonna move up and down with an independent rear suspension but I need at least 1/2 inch.
