We lived up near Carrefour, then the big Basilica and finally Atemajac over almost 5 years. Gorgeous, awesome rain and lightning storms and friendly people. Just a bit too violent and the transitos are the most corrupt cops! Other than that, I loved it. Thats where I met this car.

How's your Spanish? My wife is from Monterrey, MX. We met in Vancouver, BC and got married in Monterrey, then moved back to Vancouver. 8 months later, we moved to Guad. I taught myself Spanish (thanks to being French Canuck) and then learned to argue in Spanish. You learn a language best when you put a little passion into it.

$arge! Hold off on the grosserias test! There's an espia in our midst!

Well, guys, back to the rollering... That was lunch break. I may haul out my contruction lights this evening to get the second coat on. I had to get all the dust out from inside the body shell (there's nothing inside the car, no windows, nada!), and then mask it all off before painting. So I should get the first full coat on in about 2 hours, wait till 8:00 PM and then put the next one on. We're going to be at 23C and 48% humidity with light winds, and then 13C overnite. There ain't no better time. Chao for now!:)

Speak Now or Forever...Well, You Know!

So the more I weigh all the factors (yes I am an engineer! - aka nerd!) the more I keep coming back to the '69 Pontiac Bonneville Safari.
    Pluses:
    1. It has a massive 428 V8 with a four barrel carb and dual exhaust, that would give it a GVW/HP ratio of around 12 and that is darn good for a wagon!
    2. It has a mint interior.(y)
    3. No rust and a fresh coat of paint:woohoo1:
    4. It can be fully enjoyed while I decide how I want to further restore or mod.
    5. All that for $1500:2_thumbs_up_-_anima

    Minuses:
    1. It is not as cool as the Valiant or Plymouth but they are rusted and have much smaller power plants!:(

So the Pontiac is clearly the most complete for the least initial cash...

Any last words of caution or advice??:yikes:

Ivan, you're obviously not finding any of the real grand daddy wagons! I had a 5800 lb 1975 Chrysler Towne and Country Brougham wagon woodie with a 440 - 4 bbl. That thing danced. It wouldn't pass many gas stations, but gas was cheap back in 1988.

Those cars are solid. It was the last of the real full-sized Chrycos, but it had every toy except auto-dimming for the headlights.

We started getting the real wide-a$$ed Bonnevilles in 1967 here, but I never saw a wagon version in Canada.
