Is it possible to build a long range electric car using a older car body?

Not even now. Toyota's new Fuel-Cell (hydrogen) will run for 516 miles, the best I've seen on a midsized wagon is 200 miles. Even Ford's EV Ranger pickup (1998) was just under 200 miles, between plug-ins for a recharge.

I don't know if you have cable. But there is a new channel we have here called planet green. They are at Jay Leno garage showing a few of his cars. Like a 1909 Baker which is all electric,he also has a 1918 Westinghouse car that is a hybird a gas powered and electric that gets 50 mpg.a 19 something Doable which is a gas powered steam car that completely burns the gas at 2000 degrees and leaves no emissions behind.

So it shouldn't be "Back TO the future". It should be "Back FOR the Future." Pretty sad that these methods didn't survive. The Oil Boom and Car boom fell in love or lust with each other, and here we are, running out in another century.
