    Hey guys,

I am sure there may be more info on some forums that specialize on these cars, but thought I would try here first.

I need to replace the instrument cluster bulb that lights up the fuel gauge (and a couple of warning lights) on my '72 Caprice. I also noticed that the speedometer light on my '73 Grand Ville needs replaced. I think both cars use 194 bulbs in these.

On the Caprice, I can see three small screws on a strip along the top of the cluster. I am wondering if all I need to do is remove these and pull it out, or more to it? I do not want to break anything.

On my Grand Ville, I have no idea. I think that entire "wood-grain" trim panel has to come off, but you have to pull off the wiper switch knob and headlight switch knob to get them off an they seem very tight. I think I may end up breaking them.

Any instructions how to replace would be appreciated. I have a book for the Chevy and a shop manual for it on CD, but misplaced both. I am not sure if it is even in there anyway.

    Thanks in advance!

The easy way may be to lie on the floor and reach up, without removing the instrument cluster at all. I have done that on cars. It is possible, but can be a bit tricky. The illumination bulbs are normally a 168 (a little dimmer than the 194), but the 194 can be used for a bit of extra light. Warning lamps are 194s.
