Cars and food,my kind of people on this forum! It's Monday so keeping with the New Orleans tradition did big pot of red beans and rice with smoked sausage today.
I'm doing left overs tonite witch I made yesteday. Home made red wine beef stew, made with New York steak, come with my home made Bi*** @@S onion and chive biscuts. I have gound Bison/Buffalo in the freezer...I think chilli will be on the menu some time this week!
I was thinking the same thing. But actually if it was on sale at our regular supermarket for .99c it would be a great deal wouldn't it? You guys are nuts...green flames...
I've known this slogan my whole life. "Neighbor? How long's it been since you had a big, thick, steaming bowl of Wolf Brand Chili? Well that's too long!" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqeVM0tGRo4 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kXWjN4Tlg38 Good stuff, but actually, I prefer Hormel. :2_thumbs_up_-_anima David
You knew someone would post this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6dm9rN6oTs&feature=related Sorry I had to be the one! David
As long as the topic is canned chili, my personal favorite is Stag Steakhouse Chili, no beans. Then I fix it up my way, with onions, a bit of BBQ sauce, and anything else that looks good in the fridge.. .
speaking of chili waaaayyy back in 03. i was living in south florida. every year they have a big country concert and chili contest. its called the South Florida Chili Cook off. (Incidentally it was my first country concert ...brad paisley was the headliner) tickets were expensive but if your company sponsored your entry into the chili cook off admission was free for all involved. Well, we had about 9 of us who worked at ford of pompano that really wanted to go. My dad saw this as a great opportunity to get the dealership some face time and keep his workers happy. so not only did we all get to go my dad sent the dealership parts runner F150 (we were a very small dealership espescially by south florida standards so we only had 2 parts trucks...an F150 and a gutted windstar.) to haul the tables, pots burners etc. The Rules of the cookoff were simple. everything had to be from scratch, no canned product whatsoever and it had to be made on the premises. we had a couple of our resident redneck technicians work up a recipie (that contained a full handle of Jack Daniels and ...i think jim beam). we weren't even trying to win we just wanted to go to the concert free. well, after we ate the chili (we had to eat it our selves as health dept regs. stated we weren't allowed to sell or serve our chili to anyone but our party.) needless to say that much alcohol couldn't cook off the 4 hours we had to cook. so we ate and drank and were very merry. i just remember passing out on concrete under our teams tent! oh....our chili?.....placed 33rd out of 200 teams.
Ian - can you post up a receipe on that? In the meantime, look what my daughter picked up from Big Lots....... No beans ( ), but it's TURKEY Chili. Dtr sas this is the only kind they had. We'll see.........(not having it today - mebbe tomorrow.)
