Hi my name is Jeff I recently purchased a 1972 Gran Torino Wagon to go along with my 72 Gran Torino Sport I have named it "GuldenRod" cause of it's Gulden's Mustard color It is called Medium yellow gold and is kinda of a rare color The car has a 351C 2v with C4 automatic it is a low optioned Gran Torino but it does have Power brakes and Power steering it doesn't have the roof rack that is common on most Gran Torino Wagons but I like it clean like that. It also doesn't have the 3rd row seat that flips up out of the cargo area in the floor which is also great for me as I would rather have the storage compartment It has painted steel wheels & dog dish caps it also has manual rear tailgate window instead of Electric Window so less to worry about failing with switches and relays. It has a nice original Ginger vinyl interior but needs the famous dash pad the cracks replaced but headliner is intact and could use a new carpet cause the color is fading, but that is available new. The exterior is all original paint and needs a tailgate but have one lined up from the seller and then it needs the lower rear quarters patched as there is a few holes around the rear side glass letting in water but plans are to remove the glass and weld it up smooth with sheet metal as i plan to build a 2 door delivery wagon out of it but want to cruise it for the summer with some Torq Thrust wheels and BFG T/A's off my 72 GTS for a 72 Gran Torino wagon that spent all it's life in New Jersey it is in remarkably great shape as most Northern Gran Torino's rot out from the bottom really bad. I recently moved back to NJ the beginning of the year to be closer to the family I have left and spent the last 25 years living in South Florida. I was born and raised in NJ and lived in the long beach Island/Manahawkin Area till after I graduated high school. I went to Tech school for Auto Body repair in my Junior and Senior year and been doing it for almost 30 years now. ver the years I have restored and built many classic cars, muscle cars and hot rod's and even had my own Kustom & Restoration shop and had one of my builds featured in 2 magazines and chosen for the Calendar in one so I had photo's featured in 3 years here is my newly created facebook page but still have more to add but would appreciate if you LIKE it for me. http://www.facebook.com/pages/Kewl-Kustoms-Paint/227678330667315 i'm a Senior member at grantornosport.org and we now have a wagon & 4 door section but since I got the wagon I thought I would add it here too as I know a few of our members have their wagon's here also well that is all for my introduction and can't wait to see what other kewl wagon's there are here
Welcome, from one newbie to another! I love the Gran Torinos... especially the 72! Pics would be great! Station wagon porn.
here is the photo shoot I stopped and did on the way home from picking it up Here is "GuldenRod" after I got it on the way home at an old gas station ding ding ,filler up
Wow she appears to be in great shape! I grew up in a '75 with a 400 engine, no 3rd seat..., mind you, I prefer the look of the 72 (esp. the front clip). Nice find!
The interior is in really good shape. My first car was a 73 Gran Torino - I didn't appreciate it until it was gone. Looking back, it was quite a machine compared to the plastic crap they churn out today.
i'm a veteran of car forums so I know what everyone wants and come fully prepared I have albums full of photo's as i take so many photo's from different angles of all my work and any new rides. I stopped to look at this car on the way home from Cruisin' Ocean City in MD and put a deposit on it. Then I had to go to the Ford National's in Carlisle so it had to wait another week after that show,so I ended up getting it this past Sunday the 10th, the day after my Birthday as Saturday I was ill till about 3pm so it had to wait a day.
this is my 5th Gran Torino, my first was a 72 Gran Torino Wagon, white with Ginger interior 3rd row seat and roof rack,351C w/ C6 PS,PB and power tailgate window 2nd was a 73 basemodel which I swapped on a 74 nose and doors off a Ranchero 500 my uncle gave me with rusted out frame. had the 73 formal from 87-93 then got out of Torino's till 2009 when I bought a 73 Gran Torino Formal that had a vinyl top and the roof rusted out and couldn't find a donor roof so I bought a 73 GTS shell to take and mke a sport roof from 2 cars but never was able to afford the shipping from Nebraska to FL so that one got parted out then I parted the 73 formal and bought the 72 GTS in the photo's and now i'm on my second 72 wagon here is the first wagon and 73 back in the late 80's
