Well, I got the car delivered today and after seeing it my wife is on board to pour some cash into it. Needs a little bit of all kinds of work body, electrical, and motor work. It's a slant 6 (225) out of a 72. I need to get all of that crazy stuff off of it first.
Update: Nonsense removed I took most of the junk off and it almost looks like a car. Lots of screw holes all over the place I need to figure out how to fill. Also, up closer inspection the discoloration on the roof, fenders is paint worn off where primer is showing. It does have a good amount of rust and rot but most of that is on the lower parts of the car. I found a guy on ebay who has a bunch of parts but I'm not sure what a decent price is. Is $400 for a hood a good deal or is this too much?
You may want to decide what kind of money you want to put into it and how far you want to go with it before buying a bunch of parts. Like finding out what it will cost to repair all the rust, or, if it is repairable. If it is not repairable you may want to just clean it up good and drive it. Go through the car and decide what you want done to the mechanics, interior, exterior and make a list and then get prices. You don't want to start throwing money at it blindly. Make a plan and check it against cost.
That's good advice. Along with making it mechanically sound I need to make it look like I didn't just escape from a mental institution. I might be able to get away with grinding the insanity away from the hood and filling it.
Fox is right. I actually found a 4 door sedan for $500, the same year model and body style and was able to get the hood, fender, bumpers, instrument panel, and a ton of extra emblems and misc. parts. When I researched prices online, these items would have cost me over $3000.00. So as Fox said, make a list and then research your options. Good luck and remember that paint job is called patina and I like it! If it was just about 4 inches lower that thing would be on fire!!!!!!!!!:2_thumbs_up_-_anima
Yeah...it's a shame the guy screwed things on there that now leaves holes in the body. I love the patina on this car....
My only concern is that if I see something and pass on it I might not be able to find another one. As far as the patina, I'm not even sure what to think about that. I guess I will wait to see how things go with things higher on the priority list.

To add to the coolness of this car it has the 3rd seat(facing back) and from what I've read 61 was the last year for this option.
If I was in your neighborhood, I'd help you with it. If you have no experience with body work, you might want to look into your local community college autobody program. You wagon would make an excellent class project. You can probably take night classes. It that a BMW steering wheel? Got to say the former owner sure had taste (not). Marshall
