Vice Grips ! Don't forget a few assorted sizes of Vice Grips, the old American made ones, and some wire coat hangers. Add that to all your other tools and you can fix most anything without a computer.

Of course, how could've I forgotten vice grips? I've used them for so many different things I don't know how people got anything done before they where invented.

Anyway, the Benz has been sold, I'm going to soon be buying another Oldsmobile, and I am expecting the new Summit branded carburetor for my '77 Delta 88 tomorrow.

    Wow ! You've become a wheeler-dealer flipper dipper !:rofl2:
Just remember you don't really have a car until it's a station wagon.

Of course, but a 5,000lb two door luxury coupe is a close second. I got a 1979 Oldsmobile Holiday 88 today, I'm gonna start another thread about it.

Sounds spectacular! I'm thinking this may be a little more like what you are used to compared to your last car. Looking forward to seeing it and hearing about it.

That would be me too. As much as I'd love to own a nice Mercedes I'm more comfortable with American iron.
As for the keys, you might find a locksmith to look it over. They can usually make new keys for most locks cheaper than trying to replace all the others.

No need, got a set of locks, doors, and trunk, as well as ignition from a cutlass (1979 I think) which SHOULD fit it. Just gotta find 'em, they're in a baggy or container in my fathers shed. I'll get over there before the birds re-occupy that shed in the spring. There use to be a dove that nested in there years ago, they're the only ones which didn't crap all over the place... And the only ones who'd just stare at you waiting for you to leave no matter how close you got. Also use to have a woodpecker that would stare at it's self in the chrome on the rockers of the '86 Oldsmobile, sometimes pecking at it or making angry noises. You don't live IN the woods, you live WITH the woods. :D

Living in the Florida boonies for over 20 years I do understand. About 8000 acre game preserve 1/4 mile down the road next to the Suwannee River which is next to a State Park with a large blue hi flow spring. Nuthin but 80 acres of pine trees across our road and another 60 acres of woods at the end of the road.
The redheaded woodpeckers love to chew up our quarter million dollar neighbors cabin. On our place they just peck on the trees. We have several hootin owls and lots of deer, ferrel hogs, Armeedildos, and other woodland critters including hawks and eagles. The Deer come right up to our dining room window and drink out of the deerbath. Formerly a birdbath when the birds are not around.
We have a 10X12 pump house where I store my riding mower and tools. Now and then it becomes a squrrel house. I occasionally start the mower and pull the choke out until me and the squrrels run outside!
Art least we don't get much snow or freezing weather. Okay no snow!

I guess that is expected. Still not so bad for the price indicated. Can't wait to hear about the progress. Good luck!:thumbs2:

I have owned 5 Mercedes in my life...

1974 240D (was a basket case, never restored, sold for junk - my uncle bought it new, I owned it in late 1990s)
1985 380SE (320K, still running like new when I sold it in 2005)
1984 190D (nice little car, but too small for me, plus owned when diesel was $4.50 per gallon, so I sold it in 2008)
1988 300SEL (have owned since 2006, still own, but now moms car - has been very reliable, but now needs new water pump... the original 1988 pump has finally worn out, lol)
1993 400SEL (most $ I had ever paid for one. Great car, but costly to maintain and had a strange electrical issue with radio/turn signals - sold at a loss last summer)

All were good cars. They can be costly to maintain however. The older ones will last forever. When you get around 1992+, they get more complex, costly to maintain.

Never had any electrical problems with my 80s models and only that radio issue on my '93 model.
