I'm truely jealous. But, I can't see pulling my engine just to paint my engine bay. Yours will look fabulous with that yellow engine. I can't wait.
I think he read a book on Aztec color schemes. Gonna look HOT!!! My wife wants the kitchen floor in typical wild Mexican coloured tiles. His colours plus pea-green, a touch of purple, red, and black borders. If that don't wake us up, nothing will!
Thanks, but remember this was just supposed to be an in-car head swap last fall. Which turned into a cam swap. Which turned into bearing damage, which turned into a bottom end rebuild which turned into winter which turned into a crappy spring and summer... yadda yadda....
I sprayed clearcoat on it and the power steering rack yesterday, beating the rain. Time to start putting everything back together! I'd like to install a couple of headlight relays while I'm at it. Although I'm not yet sure where to splice in.
There's a common wire at the rad cage, but you may want to keep the relays away from the roadsalt and engine dirt. It's the brown wire throughout the system.
Brown? hmmm the EVTM has them as r/bk. So how do the wores splice up at the headlight switch? This car has seperate feeds to the right and left side? Guess I'll actually have to go outside and look at it!
Ford was Frugal. They run all the main exterior lights off the brown and add the green for the high beam circuit. So Park, Headlights are on brown and green, and the turn/hazard circuit gets a red on one side and a blue on the other (IIRC). Here's a relay kit: http://www.ronfrancis.com/prodinfo.asp?number=HR-58 and a good DIY.
I checked definitely green/black, red/black, and black doming from the headlight connectors. One line from each side going into the firewall. They would have to splice in together somewhere, probably close to the switch? I would need to splice in somewhere on the other side of that then, right?
Yep, after the headlight switch: http://www.rowand.net/Shop/Tech/images/HeadlightRelayWiringDiagram.jpg
Finally making progress Moving right along.................StorminNorman lending a hand. Thanks buddy I owe you one! Unfortunately we weren't able to get the tranny and motor to mate. I think we'll have to loosen the tranny crossmember and exhaust to free things up a bit more. We couldn't get the tranny to come forward enough, or the block to go back far enough, so we need another inch or so. But at least we got the darn thing up and out of the basement!
Thats looking great! I have taken the same path on my own ride, so I know just how much time and effort you have put out. Heres a couple of pics for inspiration:
