We hit 84 F today, and UV of 7. Spent most of the day taking off the window plastic and installing the screens. I'm on it tomorrow!

Why are you killing yourself trying to find parts for this oddball rearend when a 7.5" or 8.8" will bolt right in?

I survived the 'killing myself'. Got all the parts now. :thumbs2: :tiphat:

Actually, the DANA 44 is in good company in cars like Vipers, 'Vettes, Jags, Cobras, Checker Cabs, and US Postal Trucks, most Jeeps, Broncos, and even back to early TBirds.

I know that mine has than 70,000 miles on it, driven by a little old lady. We knew the lady's mother, who bought it new.

I plan on buying another one in Mexico with the DANA, only I'll get all the parts while I'm there and haul it back on a trailer. The DANA is rated for a GVW of 3450, the 7.5 is only 2,640.

I better get more here on the Header Progress. This week, for sure.

I have to get the carrier shims and side bearings pressed on tomorrow, so I can wrap up the DANA adventure. :yup:

Even the name sounds sexy! No wonder Norman spends so much time in the shop. :rofl2:

I've met a couple different gals named Dana in my life, and of course, Gillian Anderson's character Dana Scully, but I also knew a guy named Dana, which ruins the name for me.

I got Number 1 pipe in! Cut the port stubs for the next 3 since they hover over the K-member (front X-member). Number 6 port is in, but needs to be shaved back a half inch. Port 2 is just tacked.

    I'll post pictures tomorrow.

The idea of shorties is starting to get my attention. There's room enough. I wanted to look at it closer in the AM.

Sure glad I have the steering column on the other side. :whew:

We've had major storms and now wildfire haze, Major wildfires in Saskatchewan and Manitoba, with North winds blowing it down here. If Alberta didn't pump over 300 billion litres of river and rain water into its Natural Gas and Oil Wells, a lot of those forests would get their fare share, and not dry up. Makes it funny working under a Krypton Red Sun.

I used the time to reinstall my DANA with its new Trac-Lok differential, with all the new suspension (springs, brakes, swaybar, bushings, etc.) and then installed the new exhaust and couplings up to the bell housing. All stainless bolts, washers, nuts.

I'm logging pipe segment lengths and angles for each pipe, as I go so the next guy can start with more than a pipe dream. :rofl2:
Should finish the header this week.
