It's never easy moving. And it's never easy in Chicago. Never lived there. But vacationed and spent time at the touristy places. After this summer heat wave is over they will have to get ready for the cool breezes of winter.
To me the biggest problem would be sleeping on a hard serfiace. I've found that different vinyls and glues may or may not seal. Some only work a short time. The air mattress in the back of our pick up has been fully inflated since last summer. If we lay on it it may go down in minutes. I keep it there just in case we need a late nite quick nap when traveling. But no longer feel safe doing it.

Believe it or not, Cat, a great amount of things have been much easier and simpler here in Chicago than in Joplin. I don't know why exactly, but it is. We have had plenty of stress and problems but, again, it is no where near as bad or troublesome as Joplin. The heat here lately has been like a cool summer day in SW MO... The air bed is a Coleman, BTW.

Coleman is a very common brand and most Big Box stores have those. We never buy the air beds with built in pumps. Just buy a separate pump to use in the next air mattress. Found out those mid sized red and black hand pumps work well when no electicity available for the small electric pumps.
Chicago has many things to see and do for little or small charges. We love the museums, the pier and aquarium. The beaches and people watching are always fun and free.
If bored stand in the middle of Lake Shore Drive and count station wagons.
