I want to sell both Olds wagons but I don't want to sell a electrickly challenged car... Few months back the 83 Olds crewzer's wipwer motor would stop in mid wipe, grab it, give it a jigle and it would be fine for a few days. One day it just would not work when I turned it on and the wiper motor was making a buzzing sound. NP, I unpluged it. My 82 parts wagon has the same motor and before I took it out it worked in the other wagon. I put it in the 83, all it does is "buzz" (no wipers), put it back in the 82, it works. There is nothing in the way of the wiper arms, unhooked I can move them by hand with little effort. ANYBODY, have any idea as to WTF is going on???
My 83 was doing some crazy things until I added a redundant ground wire from the wiper motor case ground to a ground screw on the inner fender. Worked fine after that...
The other thing that comes to mind is the wiper switch. It the additional ground doesn't do the trick, that may well be the problem. Those G.M. multi-function arms can be a pain in the patootie!
Well, that did not change a thing, still POS That just ain't gona happen, not ripping the stearing colum apart just to fix and sell....if(?) that is the problem.......... Guess I'm gona have to drop asking price acordingly (witch I have not figured out yet....who wants to by a car with electrical BS?) or just drive the GM POS nickle and dime ya to death car on sunny days.:banghead3:
I know you know this and you don't want to hear it, but it's probably worth fixing. As long as it's not working, it's a great excuse for lowball offers...
I know,,,,I know:banghead3:......hence why I have not advertized them yet, for sale......and I know if I want to sell, this has to work/ be fixed.......... rain season, I'd never buy a car with NO wipers working:banghead3:....and yeah, I'd low ball myself if buying because of.................:banghead3: Just may be, as I mentioned.....just keep and barn..............
Tedy: Is the steering column cover not in two pieces on these cars? If it is, you can normally undo the 2 screws that hold the pieces together and change the switch easily. It is normally held in with one or 2 screws and a clip on the pigtail. On some cars, it is a matter of an hour of work, and that can make for a much easier sell, or even make the car easier to live with. Plus, Parts probably has the one you need for the good wagon.
