Great question. I tormented myself about a decent deadener too. I decided on EverCoat's because it was like the factory product, but I like that foil wrapped product. Was it a pain to lay down and shape to the floor?
Hi All Haven't had a lot of progress to report lately, nothing sexy anyway. Brake work -Electrical- that sort of stuff. I'm Taking it to the upholstery guy tomorrow to have the fiberglass panels in the back fitted and headliner hung. gpd Thanks for the kind words. The sound deadener brand I used is call Quality Heat Shield, very dense. Its sold by the roll 4x6. It was a better way for me to go because I needed so much of it.and it didn't put me in the poorhouse. It's pretty easy to install, just make sure you have a pair of super sharp scissors. Norm It's very forgiving, you cut it as close as you can glue it down and tape the seams with foil tap. I'll send more pics when I can. Best Rick
Just an update I pick the car up tomorrow from the upholstery shop I'll check in with pics as soon as I can. Rick
Well it didn't happen:banghead3: Said he had a guy call in sick, swarms of locusts, there was this giant tidal wave, the dog ate his home work, bla bla bla. He said it will ready this Wednesday I'm not holding my breath. Hes had the car two weeks.
i really hate it when someone says oh itll be ready on such n such day !! and then they say o im sorry but it wont be ready till friday or monday or whenever . if they would just come right out and say ill have back in a month or 2 that would be fine . just dont keep puttin me off ya know . if i have your car in my shop and i tell you itll be ready friday . itll be ready friday , that means if i have to stay late, go pick up the needed parts or have something shipped in overnight . its just 1 of many pet peeves lol
Upholsterers and house painters are the same way. They get busy for a while, get big upfront deposits, buy the materials and drink the rest, then they need gas money to get to work. That's why I do my own. I rent an industrial sewing machine, take an evening course to brush up on what I forgot and DIY! On house paint, I mix my own with Milk. Look up milk paint on the WWW. Sometimes, I think a lot of politicians were either upholsterers or house painters. Oh, artsies. Its a love/hate relationship. :banghead3:
Well its been a bad last week. Tuesday evening I call the guy to see if the car was done. I get "The number you have dialed is no longer in service" I lose it, I tell the wife I'm going to his shop in the mourning and bring it home done or not. So that night I had just gone to bed and I get a call from my sister " Mom just had another stroke" she 85. I wont go into a lot of detail now but we all new it was coming soon for sometime, She's home and resting comfortably. So Wednesday mourning I call the guy again, I get a voice mail. I leave a message telling him I'm coming to get the car and the shop better be open or I'm calling the sheriff. I get there the shop was open but he was nowhere to be found. I tell one of his guys I'm here to pickup the wagon and if he has a problem with it I was calling the sheriff. The car was in the back of the shop with the headliner about 90% done and the back fiberglass panels about half done. I will post some pics as soon as I can. Anyway the wagon is home and safe and mom is still with us here on earth for now. Like I said It's been a bad last week. Rick
Pics Update Well it's not good. Where do I start? The car was filthy. The front seat has holes in it looks like someone drip glue or resin on it and pulled the vinyl off. It's just a mess. I'll let you guys be the juge. It looks like we may be going to court over this one.
