Looks like this is gonna fall thru. I suggested a signed and notarized affidavit saying he is who he says he is on the title which should be good enough for me to register but he doesn't seem to want to do that either. I would let him mail me that during the week after I pay him for wagon and take it. He wants to do it Wednesday now but I can't find anyone to go on Wednesday so I am about ready to give up. This is just not worth all this!

    Suggestions???

I bowed out gracefully, seller just too leery to sell to out of state buyer and give me what is required to register car in Louisiana. I sent this e-mail:

Well back on again. He agreed to give me all paper work and get a notarized affidavit saying he is who he says he is on Monday. That should be enough proof to get it registered here! So the risk is on me, trusting he will mail me that paper, fingers crossed leaving out in morning. Pictures to come hopefully if all is well with wagon! After this I remember why I buy local.

Just reading this now and unless I missed a detail somewhere, I have a thought to share. Two of the three classic cars I've owned I purchased across state lines....

Is there any reason you and the seller couldn't go together to a DMV in his state for you to obtain temporary plates/tags so you could drive the car home (thereby allowing the seller to keep his plates)? With "plates" registered in your name, plus the aforementioned documents, this should be all you need in the (less) likely event you were to get pulled over. This is how I've done it - twice - out of two different originating states and never had any problems.

Dunno if this helps, but good luck tomorrow! Looking forward to the next episode in this story! (y)

Some of these deals turn into soap opera's. Glide-Away has the best idea. Since it will be on a Monday, a work day for DMV, the best way is both go there and do the deal.
We'll all be eagerly waiting as the World Turns.:rofl2:
    Good luck 1tire and 1tiredad.

Xenon it was changed to Monday.

We never changed to Monday but this is what we figured out according to a notary the seller knows. We recorded the whole thing with witnesses and all and I gave a copy of my license so I will get a notarized bill of sale in the mail. The seller and his wife were super nice people, just worried since a credit card was just stolen but everything should be good and I already decided if I need to make a 2nd trip to be able to register it I would.

Any how here she is, the good and not so good but she is great and rides and drives like a dream. I enjoyed the almost 300 mile drive. Please chime in because I am far from knowing what came in these but seems pretty loaded to me. Inside in really good shape and exterior isn't too bad. All in all I would say $1750 still seems like a deal.

Seller even called a little while ago to make sure we made it! Thought that was a nice gesture!

Nice. With the low mileage and general good condition a few dings and scrapes seems minor.
Glad it all worked out for you Dennis. If you change your mind about that crappy wagon let me know!:rofl2:

Seems to get good gas mileage too. Didn't check but I filled up in Tuscaloosa and still had a little over 1/2 tank when I got home 280 something miles later. About a 100 miles into the trip I got bored with going 70 and 75 mph and kicked it up and run 80 and caught myself doing 85 once. Didn't notice it rides and drives so good. Seller provided a receipt with all the services and repairs done in 2010 for $3300 and something dollars, he said he only drove it about 5,000 miles in last few years.

I still haven't sold my dad on wagons yet but I did have him drive it the first 15 miles or so. I tried to get him to drive it home but when we stopped and filled it up he said "You drive it now." Think he was beginning to enjoy it because he did mention how it rode and drove really nice.
