I delivered a one-year-old '78 LTD II wagon to the sheriff's department in the Winter of '79, during a horrendous blizzard. While a normal commute ran about 45 minutes, it took three and a half hours this day! It was a terrific handling car in the snow and ice, which surprised the hell out of me. The county SO really liked the car, and ended up being the Sheriff's car. These were pretty nice cars from the Malaise Era, all being said.

When I was going to high school, the little town I lived in here in Western Washington had three LTD II cop cars, and on the long hill up to the high school, when it snowed, a good run at it would allow the cars to make it to the top. Only the Chief's son's Power Wagon had less trouble.
