Yeah in 1980 I stupidly bought a used high Mileage diesel Dasher for the fuel Mileage, it wasn't a wagon but mayhave been the worst car investment I ever made. Unrelieable, expensive to fix, boring to drive even with the 5-speed manual. When it did run it did get over 50mpg highway, but after suffering thru 1 winter with it I scrapped it (I actually sold it for scrap, I could not actual have anyone pay to experience that POS) and replaced it with a 1978 Fiat X1/9. It was a much better car (really and it was not all that great mechanicly) Was fun to drive, and also got 50mpg.

It is a pretty damning statement when you can say you replaced a car with a used Fiat and the Fiat was a better car.

To be fair the Fiat had about 1/2 the miles the dasher did, and the P/O of the Fiat took much better care of it. The Dasher was a used car buying experience for me. There were a couple of warning signs I saw about the car and the seller and I ignored them both to my expense. Never again.

If it is a solid as it looks, how can you argue with $450.00?

Even if the '78 Fiat X1/9 is pretty primitive compared to current cars (and a Fiat to boot), I'd love to have one that's in good condition. :)
