This car was the fourth motor vehicle offered (after the motorcycles) at Mecum Orlando this morning. The bidding quickly reached $24,000, the reserve was then dropped, but the bidding went no higher, and the car sold for the $24k. He obviously made the right decision in taking it to Mecum. Mecum takes 10% of the purchase price, so he nets $21,600.
It was interesting how the bidding ratcheted up to $24,000 in less than a minute and then stopped like it hit a brick wall. I'm guessing there were two bidders, one of whom had a dollar amount in mind that he would not exceed, and he stuck to it.
