I've been thinking of this wreck and have wondered how exactly it happened.

First, the speed is of no question; he probably had the pedal to the floor.

Second, how the heck did the tree miss him? Well, I suppose he veered to the right just in time for the car's weight to shift to the left and he almost missed the tree; the tree caught between the fender and the headlights (or at the headlights,) made play-dough out of the bumper and went through everything at somewhat of a diagonal angle up to the front bench seat and BAM, there he was.

I'm still more than a little uncertain as to how the floor fell out beneath him but maybe it worked out better for him this way, he also might have not been as fortunate if he missed the tree he hit. Looking at the photos, it looks as though he would have hit a different tree and might have died from that one.

101.................... I'm guessing what's in red happened. Maybe also asleep. After all he went home and went to bed. Not many sober people would do that after nearly killing themselves.

Then again, possibly it was a health issue. Only the doctors and the man knew.

Even a straight six can go fast enough to kill a tree.

Hey, which road was that on? I don't suppose Google Maps is going to show each road but maybe I could get see the tree there.

I'd think so. I'm just looking in a little more detail since it's surprising the man survived.

Drunk relaxed people seem to survive accidents better, sometimes. I know I'd be hanging onto the steering wheel and my shorts would be tightly bound up.

If you live nearby go ask the driver.

Thanks for the advice, Sir. From now on, I'm not getting behind the wheel when sober, unless it's an emergency?

The guy was doing some off-roading and the tree jumped out in front of the car?
A guy in a Jeep hit the end of a guardrail locally and the thing impaled the car front to back, he was alive but missing a foot, first responders searched but couldn't find it..
A lady was out walking her dog a few days later and found it hanging from a tree, I hate when that happens.
