We've got family in Lethbrdige, 2 hours south of Calgary, and it was the same temps for them last night . I really feel badly for them :D - Wix, good thing you got outta Dodge when you did. When the Chinook winds get rolling in Calgary and points south the temps can go up and down like a yo-yo and in big numbers, but you can bet the wind feels like it is ripping right through you it is so cold, even though it is melting the snow. A person can lose fingers, toes, etc. in that kind of cold.

Mind you, we  have a forecast for up to 10cm of snow later today, then thankfully a much anticipated shift back to rain and warmth (relatively - up to plus 8 celcius). We've had quite enough of that big round orange thing hanging out in the sky. With no cloud cover it gets cold here.

We can't believe how we used to live in the Calgary area and Lethbridge and the minus 30 stuff was bearable. Now, we hit minus 9 and I'm barely able to move. Pick up a snow shovel and I spend two days flat on my back. Good thing I didn't shovel anything with it, just picked it up, obviously the wrong way????:banghead3:

Norman - we have friends who lived in Wpg for a while. Their garage was not insulated. They had to plug their little corolla in, while it was in the garage, the winter they lived there.

We walked into Superstore at 12:30, no snow, no wind. Walked out, 1" and 40 Kmh winds. We missed the rush-hour pinball traffic hour.:whew:

Geez, Norman, I see another storm heading in to SK and MB. Wow, what the heck are you guys going to do when WINTER actually arrives?

Not that we aren't out of the woods yet - got some more white stuff to dodge tonight/tomorrow, then blissfully, rain. Lovely rain. Warm rain. Flowers, lawnmowers, weed whackers, washing the car on the driveway again - oh man, I can hardly wait until Saturday :bowdown:when all will once again be right with the world.

I first had black ice on the way to work, then half way there it started snowing. Last year I thought my employer was nuts to buy a bobcat but it came in handy today, and was alot of fun. Been several years since I played with one....was a tad bit intersting for me to get in and out of it though:biglaugh:

Saf, were doing pritty good down here, glad we wer'nt in Fort St John yesterday,,,,they were cold!:rofl2::rofl::biglaugh:

Wow Tedy - and is that F or C degrees? You are right of course, we do have it made even with what we've got.

I got a nice treat tonight - my wife bought me an insurance package that we won't get much snow - she got me a snow blower. :yahoo:

I guess she figures crippled twice in one week and the whining that goes with it was quite enough :whew:

I've been on my knees praying for snow ever since it showed up :rofl2:

    My wife thinks I'm :coco:

You mean while I'm kneeling and praying for snow???;)

Or when the wife fires up the snowblower the first time?

Hey, my doctor told me, with her present "you are not to move snow".

    I love that man.

Sadly, it will be me getting snow covered. That decision has already been made. I found out once I got it out of the box. The comment was "if you can get it out of the box that fast you can put it to work".

    She's a quick one.

But appreciate the suggestion Norman. It has been almost twenty five years since I had to even consider using one. Back then it was because we got so much snow blown in to where we lived. Southern Alberta is known for its wind and when we bought we didn't consider that we were just across from a large green space with nothing to stop the drifts from gathering on our doorstep and driveway. We were the catchall for some pretty significant piles of snow.

Okay, but I'm still working on the heavy snow thingy. I have this belief that if I really want something and I am fully prepared for it, it will never come. I too have read Napolean Hill.

Take it back and get one of those electric or gas snowbrooms. Don't know how they'd hold up on wet snow though.

We got 8" since yesterday, and 2 more coming during today. And the City is only cleaning major routes and bus stops, until late today, THEN, the whole snow crew comes out! People aren't happy.
