Thanks FT. Its been a great hobby, meet a lot of good people, and it has kept me out of trouble. Besides, I get to have a car I may never even own, even if I can't drive it.

It's kinda like when my honey and I are driven, I spot a car and say..."just think, some day we'll never have one:rofl:

I still have a big box of model cars and parts from the 50-60s and a few into the 70. AMT mostly!
Most of it was before the custom kits they later came with. I customized with an electric soldering gun, the parts trees and LOTS of filing and sanding. :whew:

Depending on the kits, some of that stuff has gotten big money. In the last 15-20 years, most have been reissued, so I have a good stock pile of them. I have also been able to get a few original kits from the 60s and 70s from the model car club I belong to.

I'm still looking for a 1970 Buick Wildcat and 1970 Pontiac Bonneville. Someone has reissued them, but its been a hot seller. Always "sold out" and forget Ebay....what a rip! :(

Really nice models, FW. I dare say, if you put them in the right setting and took their pic, they could look like the real thing. I've got a lot of Franklin and Danbury Mint models, but I also have about 15 I built when I was around 13. I have a '66 LIcnoln Continental I built and for some God forsaken reason, decided to paint it yellow with a black roof and purple interior. Most likely, those were the paints I had left over and therefore, could put the model in color without having spend the money for new paint. I guess I didn't pay much attention to what colors the factory offered back then.

Thank you SB. My first model car was a Jo-Han (no longer around) 1979 Cadillac Coupe Deville. I painted it with the same red my dad used on his Toro lawn mower. Little did I know it was lacquer paint, it "crazed" the plastic, and pretty much melted it.

I would like to find another kit, build it like I had wanted to when I was 6. Red with a white half top and white leather interior.

    Thanks Rev!

I am planning another winter project. If you guys remember the TV show "The Rockford Files", I'm trying to figure out a nice way to do a diorama of 29 Cove Road. I have a '76 Pontiac Formula (can change that to his Esprit), a '77 or '78 GMC pick up, and a I will have to hand make his trailer.

This and my Mustang notch project is gona take some real time.....but since work as cut everyones hours, I have a LOT of time to work on these.
