It's been my experience that 1.5 turns "out" for the idle screws typically works for the older style screws with the short taper. I have found that the later screws (like the ones in your carb) with the long, narrow taper require more like 3.5 to 5 turns.

    Great progress!

I'd invest under $200 and a weekend replacing all wiring with an EZ wiring wire kit. All modern GM color coded and marked wires with a modern fuse panel.
Yes there are more popular and way more expensive kits but we've had good luck with these. My son has been doing complete rewire jobs since he was ten with these kits.
Both cars in my avatar have EZ wiring plus others. Also have VintageAir in the wagon. Slightly more expensive but made to fit and good quality.
I am not a salesperson for anyone.

Yup, the carb doesn't appear to have been messed with and was set at 4.5 turns out as was my '74 (factory all original). I baselined it at 3 and it's pretty lean, heading out right now with fresh 5 gallons of gas to re-do it again and get better settings. Burns your eyes pretty good now though!

Darn, did you train your wagon to climb on a ceiling like a spider? :p

I've been thinking of changing the oil in the Wagon. I don't need to drive it anywhere to do it, I got the oil but I need a filter.

How does it sound in the car? I'm in the planning stages for a new exhaust system. I don't want to have a drone going on in the car.
