That 307 may just be suffering from the typical Olds plugged oil returns. Clean them out and you may find that the engine will run quietly.
duramax for the win,. power and mileage,. 6.2 diesel is an easy swap,. 350 olds , 9:1, #7 heads with tight quench, close lobe centres with a large lift,(dual pattern larger on the exhaust side) decent dual plane aluminum intake, carter 650 carb,(called edelbrock now) decent set of long tubes, 3:42's, build the 200R4 properly,.use a 2200 stall in it,. with a manual lockup switch,. driven right it'll do over 20mpg and still have very respectable performance,. JMHO,. Nick
well the 307olds and 200-4R are gone. after I pulled the 307 . I took the 200-4R off the 307 olds and sold 200-4R for $100 . I then removed the engine mount on frame and installed the SBC one's in the right location’s. it only took 5 minutes to move them. these are the tools i used. in it place is the SBC 350 and 700-4R. right now, I have the the SBC/700 installed and every thing hook up on the underside except the exhaust to manifolds connection. did all that from 3 pm to 9 pm tonight. now the fun part of switching all the electrical. like remove the driver side battery box and wiring, then installing it on the passenger side. funny thing ,was when I went to install the 350/700 .my cherry pick couldn’t reach far enough back to install them. so I had to use a floor jack under the tranny and move both chains from the cherry picker to the front on the SBC. then I could move the engine and tranny back, so to line up the 2 half of engine mounts and transmission mount. this is the same cherry picker, I used to pull the 307 and the 350 out of both cars but couldn’t reinstall the 350 in the Buick. strange:confused:.
sorry i already have SBC 350 and 700-4R installed. if it just stop getting below 20* or colder on my day off. i could work on all the wiring. plastic don't like cold weather.
