We are, at this moment, enjoying the tropical breezes plowing it's way up the eastern sea board. Nova Scotia is experience intense wind and rain. Walking to the truck after work was at a very quick pace. I was really glad it wasn't slippery, I may have missed the truck altogether. It was all I could do to stay on my feet. While waiting for the truck to warm up and to also decide which way to drive home, the truck was being jostled about, it was much like being on a boat.
I decided to take the #2 hwy so I wouldn't have be too concerned about the high wind gusts (about 120kms) and other large vehicles. But I under estimated the number of branches down on the road. I ran over a few because I just didn't see them until the last minute, with the side ways rain that was beating on the windshield. Things were blowing by, leaves, small branches, I thing a chicken may have bounced of the roof by the windshield.
It is going to be a wild night with the wind gusts reaching 140kms and the temperature dropping by the morning. The house is just vibrating with these gusts. The dog keeps coming over to be comforted, she is nervous. The cats don't seemed to be bother at all, stretched out sleeping soundly.
We have our flashlights plugged in, charging them and they come on if the power goes out. The bath tub is half full in case the we loose water. The car & truck are gassed up. The wagon is tucked away in her shelter. We have a few pre cooked meals in the fridge and canned goods in the cupboard. The one thing I did forget to do was get some extra cash.
We are about as ready as we can be, now we just wait for it to pass and hope we and others fare well.

Hunker down, and don't go out. Pray that the power lines stay up.

That water in the tub...you should put a few drops of chlorine bleach in, just to make sure it stays safe to drink. IIRC, it's 2-3 drops per gallon.

In our central location in the province, we made it through quite well, we didn't even loose power. Although we can't find the cover from our plastic garbage can. But around our little town others have not done as well. Sheds blown over, roofs torn off, power outages, roads torn up and it goes on. However, the power corporation seem to have things well under control and so did the EMO folks. Although it was a mess it really could have been worst.

The water in the tub is for flushing not consumption, we keep that water separate.

The garage/shelter is holding up very well. This is our third winter with it. It is sheltered on three sides by the garage, a 6' solid fence, and the house.

This is the shelter after a storm a couple of winters ago.

It's not that easy to flush one's self down the bathtub, without first attaching a sizable garbage disposal to the drainpipe first[IMG]
