Well I did get it home yesterday, 3 hours there and back, my Father in law went with me to drive my truck home. Car was just as described, only thing that doesn't work in the Cruise Control, and I just didn't care!!!! LOL. Still smiling, car is scary fast it can spin the tires in the 1st 4 gears with no effert at all. One odd thing, when I picked it up it had 7/8 of a tank of gas, and when I scrolled thru the display it had a fuel range remaining of only 19 miles! and an average speed of 17mph! As I drove it the range came up to a high of 141 with just over 1/2 a tank remaining, and the average speed rose to 41mph. I think the car got quite a few enthusiastic test drives around the dealers nieborhood! As I suspected the car could use a little less gear than the stock 3.93 posi, I am thinking something around 3.23 would be much better, it would make 1st gear more useable, and get some more MPG highway by lowering the 75mph cruising rpm to below the present 3100rpm.
In Indiana? No way that's a DD!! Even in Summer, you don't wanna risk some @$$clown plowing into it, door dinging it, breathing on it.... Funny thing, looks like the wagon can be its mobile garage!
I could not resist driving it to work today! mid 50'sF and partly sunny. Went Topless on the way home 45 minutes on surface streets, still smiling!!!! One thing I learned it has a lot in common with our Greyhounds!!!! It seems to be happy either at full throttle or idling, does not really like to be short shifted into 2nd or 3rd gears. It tends to surge until yo at least give it 1/2 throttle, and 1/2 throttle upshifting in traffic is alittle dicey. And that is what insurance is for!!!!
