Hi! I'm on my second Buick Century Woody wagon, 1992, and hope to drive this or one just like it for the rest of my life -- there's absoutely nothing I don't like about it, and every time I drive some other car, a hundred things annoy me. This old gal hasn't been garaged, so has gotten a little rust at the bottom of doors and the side window gaskets/seals are cracked. Am in the process of moving to a house with a garage, and looking for a car in better cosmetic shape to pamper and keep forever. Can't find ANYTHING that meets my basic requirements (Buick Century Woody, good condition, NO AIRBAGS, 3rd row seats). Starting to think I should just invest in restoring the one I've got, which is in tip-top mechanical condition.
Welcome to the squirrel's cage! We may be nuts, but it is all good fun. Sounds like you have found your ideal car already. As i have told my Mom, when you have the perfect car for you, don't think twice about replacing it, spend what is needed to keep the one you have the way you want it. Resale value is meaningless because you aren't selling anyway, and no matter what you do to the old one, it will cost less than a new car. In fact if you figure the TAXES on a new car, and spend that amount a year, you are, in essence, driving for free, since you get nothing for that money spent.
Hey Periscope, what's up? I think you're having a hard time finding one because a lot of those Buick Century woody wagons took boat rides to Japan. http://www.stationwagonforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16651
Welcome, and except for the woodgrain, you like what I like. I've had four Century sedans in my life (88-89-92-95, plus 89-90-95 Cieras and 86-87-89 Celebritys) and the only thing I'm short is a wagon. Have I shared my Sportwagon build idea with the board? I don't think I have: Think a 91-93 Century wagon, no wood, silver or "ice" blue (light adriatic blue) on gray leather, 3300/4-speed auto. Then make the following changes and put on some LeSabre/LaCrosse/Lucerne/Regal wheels: functional modifications to include (this list is by no means complete) U-van sway bar, struts, springs, and ball joints up front, Moog CC657 (high rate 92 Ciera) springs and air adjustable shocks in back round H3 fog lights integrated into lower half of front bumper (yes, I will be cutting holes in the bumper cover for this) short ram intake to take up less underhood space and provide more air with less restriction front brake upgrade to 94-96 U-van, rear brake upgrade to 05+ U-van disc, master cylinder (and maybe booster) swap to suit replace all cradle bushings, engine/trans mounts, tie rod ends, and the like Magnaflow high-flow 49 state cat, 2.25" or 2.5", and from there back, same diameter pipe, mandrel-bent, one Magnaflow XL 3-chamber muffler cosmetic modifications to include (another list that will continue to grow) dark gray rubberized paint for lower body, bumpers, wheel arches, and header panel repaint door window frames and other black trim on car paint all chrome trim, door handles, door locks, roof rack rails*, mirror housings, etc in black except for grille surround add a 03-05 Park Avenue Ultra round decklid emblem to the center of the grille, remove the small BUICK letters use small BUICK letters from grille along with 68-72 Buick "Sport-Wagon" badges on each quarter in place of CENTURY badges 06-10 Impala LS steering wheel (with cruise, without radio controls) with cosmetic airbag cover for Buick LaCrosse/Lucerne window tint to TX legal limits on all windows plus windshield top band remove factory ashtray unit and adapt in the 91-96 Caprice style one with cupholders AND ashtray I like these Lucerne wheels the best, I just don't have that photoshopped into the above picture: Here's the steering wheel from the LaCrosse I'd use (of course the airbag would not be in it, they make cosmetic covers for about $85 that take its place): And the SportWagon badges: For the taillight blackout treatment I'm also thinking of rewiring it to have separate brake/tail and turn signal lights, and run the export taillights on there. Here's an example, they look like Celebrity tails but the top third is amber:
Well you gotta like a man with a plan, great ideas all you need now is time and money. Welcome aboard, cant wait for the finished project
That's a cool BUICK wagon you've got lets see some yup youll fit in here just fine Welcome periscope!
