Of course he refunded your money, you're not the sucker he's looking for.

I had a similar problem a few years back. I remember this like it was yesterday because I really really really wanted that car at the time. Bid on and won a high mileage but clean blue 1996 Olds Ciera sedan on eBay. $277.50 was my winning bid, no reserve. I called to make arrangements to pick it up in Longview TX the next afternoon, paying in cash, and the guy insisted I pay a $500 deposit via PayPal. Turns out he was a dealer and needed the tax, title, and license money as well. Problem was the grand total with all that and even his $50 documentary fee was only $430.65 and that meant I had to wait until I got there to get the $69.35 in change back.

So I sent the money via PayPal as requested, $500.65 (so he could give me an even $70 in return). That evening the money was refunded to us with no explanation and he wouldn't answer his phone. The next morning I called again and was told he had a buyer locally for $600 and unless I wanted to send ANOTHER $100 plus the original $500 I could forget about the car, then he hung up on me when I started talking about eBay is a contract, etc, etc...

I filed a complaint with eBay, which would do nothing. Then I called the Gregg county district attorney's office. They said because I was in Tarrant county that I had to talk to them. Tarrant county DA said because the car was being sold in Gregg county that I had to talk to THEM. So I saw the car relisted on eBay. Bid on it AGAIN. I was high bidder at $202.50 with ten minutes left, and then all the bids got retracted and the auction was cancelled.

This time I called PayPal and eBay both, and let them have it. His seller account was suspended a couple days later. I saw the car on Craigslist the next week for $800.

    Greedy people suck!!!!!

You want the part you paid for, you pay more now in tax or we take your part away!:banghead3: .....Tax Canada...mite as well be with a Russian accent " Da black trucks vill get yoo een da middle ov da nite!"

Tedy must has gotten some of the bad ones.

We've had reasonably good luck with the fine folks at the border. When we came home last year from down south the border guy looks at his computer and said "wow, you've been away a long time, well, Welcome Home" and waived us through, didn't even ask how much we spent in 80 days

When we brought our latest Airstream home we had to go pay duty but we expected it. No big deal, it was quick and easy, they all went out to do a walk through and gawk at it, gave us lots of nice comments, and we were out of there in 20 minutes max. We do pay a price for being on this side of the border and that is why when we go camping we drive the 10 miles to the border and enter the land of nirvana/manna what ever you want to call being somewhere a lot less costly than at home.
